URGENT: Transfer Problem

Hello All,

So I am currently in a very bad situation. I need to complete Organic Chemistry before I transfer because it is a requirement for the major I applied as to all of my schools. The problem is that I am on the waitlist for the course and the professor is not going to add any individuals to the class because of safety concerns. Right now the class is at 24 students and only ones who drop will be replaced. All other courses are full on campus and add authorization have to go through the professor that only want 24 students to a class because she is the department chair. However, Organic Chemistry 2 which uses the same lab room has 26 students which seems unfair. Also, talking to the dean of the science division did not help because they are not allowed to do force professors to add. A petition has been started to open a new class, however the one classroom that is available for Organic Chemistry lab is full for every slot and all school officials are saying it is not going to do anything. All other schools in the area have a full waitlist, are already in the third week of their semester or quarter, or have had the registration dates for the schools pass. I am running out of options and staying another year just for one class is not one. Do you guys know anything else I can try and do? Sorry if my grammar is messed up, I am very stressed out.

This is kind of a workaround, but if you haven’t actually submitted your apps yet, just change your major to something different that doesnt require that prereq. For example, I am a business major but one of my schools requires calculus at a collegiate level before transferring. My current school doesn’t offer calc, at all. (Yeah, I know). So, for that school, I changed my major to Economics and I’ll just change to business once I take the calc course. YMMV

I have submitted apps back in November. I can’t change my majors :frowning:

Transfer apps in November? Where did you apply?

I’d try contacting the admissions office for each school. Email them first (adcoms prefer email, as they’re busy). If you don’t get a reply in the next few days, call each school and get on the phone with someone.

Can you take OChem during the summer session?

UC’s. I’m trying to find somewhere I can take it in the summer but so far there’s no luck

You can take one of them at a UC for the same price as CC, just fill out a co-enrollment form. It won’t finish your sequence and you’ll have to take more/harder labs but if nothing else.
