Ok so my here is my entire hs transcript:
F: 2.9, 1 honors
S: 2.2, 1 AP - 4 on AP exam, D in Class
J: 3.6, 1 AP
Senior 1st. Semester: C+/B in AP Comp Sci (major), C in AP Calc, C+/B in AP Psych, B's/B+'s and 1/2 A's for rest of classes. This translates to around a 2.9 GPA, and a 2.9 cumulative gpa.

This third quarter though, I got a D+ in AP Comp Sci, the rest of my classes being C's(2) and B's/B+'s (no A's). Does this mean I'm done with? I'm so nervous. I also called U. Washignton about my admission and they said they sent me a welcome package and that I got in. I still haven't received it. It's been like 2-3 days already. Does this mean they probably rescinded my admissions?

Btw, how good is U. Washington's undergraduate cs program? Is U. Washington a good school? I hear the cs program is a killer.

University of Washington has an AWESOME computer science program. I am from Texas and I applied to UW and got in as well. I doubt that they have revoked you without you sending them your final transcript. If you haven't already sent in your transcript with those grades you are worried about, there is no possibility they could know about those grades.

I don't think they'll drop you. Yes, your gpa took a little hit, but you're also taking more challenging classes this year. I think they'll take that into consideration.

Oh, and.... (I'm spending far too much time on this forum)

"I also hear that even if you declare yourself as a CS major, you can get rejected from it even if you are accepted ot the university?"

Yes, you could. Some departments can't accomodate all the students who want a degree from them, so they set up an admission process entirely separate from the UW admissions process. Tricky lil' b*****s, I know. Actually, I did a paper on this a while ago with Washington being one of my research schools. I've found that Washington likes doing that to students-- many departments require separate admissions processes. They'll even have you waste time with them, i.e. take classes, before you can even apply to the department.

That's the crappy side. But there's a bright side, too...

I e-mailed some of the departments who required separate applications for their programs to find out what their acceptance/rejection rate is. Most had a 90-something% admittance rate. Their English department, who on their website said admission was "competitive," e-mailed me back saying they hadn't had to turn down a student in several years. That made me conclude that most departments are fairly large enough to accomodate the majority of students. They require the separate application for the one of two stragglers they just can't fit in.

In other words, yes, you could be rejected, but your chances are still good. However, I'd still contact the CS department for more details.

Not a full two years. I think I remember the CS prerequisites being about three quarters (that is, if you get into all your classes in sequence).
