My GC is sending Mid-Year reports with senior grades to my colleges at the end of the week. She is giving me the option to send the grades from the end of the second trimester (which ended just last week) or from the midterm (basically half of the second trimester-the midpoint of the year). Which set of grades would look more impressive to colleges: the second trimester midterm, or the full second trimester? I listed trimester 1 just for comparision. The weighted GPA for senior year is the same (4.3) for both.

Class Trimester 1 Midterm Trimester 2
AP Euro A+ B+ A-
AP Calculus B A- B-
H English A+ A A+
CP Theology A+ A A+
AP Spanish A A A
AP Bio A- A- A-

I need to let my GC know by Thursday! Tell me what you think ASAP!!

^I am definitely more humanities-oriented, and that's how I promoted myself to colleges. My main passion is writing. That's what I wrote about in my essay, and my main ECs are lit mag, newspaper, poetry publications, writing contests, and writing workshops. my recommendations probably all mention my creative skills as well. however, since math is usually my weak point, I thought it would be good to look well-balanced (and thus send the set of grades with the higher marks in calc). anyone else have any ideas?

my orginally posted Bio grade was incorrect- these are my actual marks:

Class......Trimester 1......Midterm......Trimester 2
AP Euro.......A+...............B+................A-
AP Calc.......B.................A-................B-
H English.....A+...............A.................A+
CP Theo......A+...............A.................A+
AP Bio.........A-...............A-................A
AP Span......A.................A.................A

I am leaning towards sending Trimester 2, but I'm worried that a B- in calc will look really bad. I am also concerned that I am showing a downward trend in math, which is already a weak spot in my application (math sats are lower).

please let me know what you think I should send out!! I need to tell my school tommorow!

bump
does anyone know, in general, if B-s are viewed as very bad on apps to places like the low ivies (ex: cornell) and the top LACs (swarthmore, williams)?

sigh...you people and your pluses and minuses. It really doesn't matter which one you send, they're all the same, but if you really want to come of as a SLIGHTLY more humanities person then send the midterms.
