Hey guys I'm an international student and Williams just offered me a skype interview! I heard that W didn't offer evaluative interviews, but what is it the one I got, then?! Why is it offered now? Does it have any special meaning? I am in a cocktail of anxiety and excitement! Can anyone please help??? Thank you!!!

Okay, the only wrong thing to do now is to refuse the interview. My bet is, and it might be completely wrong, be warned, that you are neither in nor out, and they like you enough to give you another shot. I’d consider it good news.

Good Luck!

An interview is usually just for you to get to know the college through talking to an alum. You are correct in that it is not evaluative; it will have no bearing on your ultimate decision. That said, I’m sure a egregiously bad interview may hurt your chances and an outstanding one may warrant a nice write up by your interviewer to the admissions office. Just accept the interview and don’t sweat it. It doesn’t mean much in terms of your ultimate decision, but it can never be a bad thing.

Do you know who is doing the inteview? If its an alumni interview, it may not matter much. However, if its the admission officer, they may want to get a better feel for you before deciding. Either way, I would accept the offer, put on your best outfit and make a great impression. Good luck!
