I am a URM (female) who applied SCEA to Yale. All of my materials were in on time, I have many family members who went to Yale (one who is currently in Congress) and am a National Achievement Semifinalist, still waiting to hear whether or not I am a finalist.

My GPA is 4.3, SAT I: 2150 and I took the Math II, Literature and French SAT IIs. I am an AP Scholar and have an extensive extracurriculars list that I don't want to bore you listing. What are my chances come December 15th?

You’re just so amazing that you’re probably not going to get in. Adcoms will look at your application and say, “hmm, this kid is bright, has connections, is a URM, has a decent SAT score…hmm…tough call…REJECTION!”

I’m sorry but that’s the only “sunny” side of the story I see.

To be straightforward, you have a great chance. Don’t know what the GPA is out of and that also depends on class rank, but being a minority, having a legacy, and having connections gives you a great shot. Nothing is 100% certain, but consider yourself in a good position :)

“I have many family members who went to Yale (one who is currently in Congress)…”

Not for the privileged, obviously.

The SAT Reasoning score is extraordinary when one takes into account the OP’s ethnicity, mediocre when one takes into account her socioeconomic background.

Nonetheless, Yale must maintain an acceptable proportion of students of color in each of its incoming classes, to avoid political backlash. OP is too good of an opportunity to pass up.

Superior academic performance makes the acceptance less subject to scrutiny.
