I am wondering if anyone could give me a bit more insight as to who receives these likely letters. One African American girl from my school did today, who is honestly not a strong student, and as a Hispanic, I am curious if this is a strong indicator that I will be rejected.

Does this have anything to do with financial aide? Did everyone who received one also need financial aid? I know that she did, and I did not apply for financial aid.

Umm, I don’t know. I am URM and I didn’t get a likely from Brown,Columbia or Princeton. I can only hope that they are still reviewing my application and have not chucked it into the auto-reject pile but you never know.

My advice: Don’t worry.
More likely than not, they haven’t automatically rejected you.

Not everyone gets a likely letter. In fact, only a small proportion of the accepted class gets them. Just because you didn’t get one doesn’t mean you won’t be accepted!

Hey dancingdoctor, I’m a ambassador for the university.

Just like everyone is saying it honestly doesn’t mean anything. It doesn’t mean your application was rejected. It just means you have to wait until the 30th to get notification of your decision. Best of luck to you!
