URoch Student Body?

How would one describe the overall student body at University of Rochester? Competitive or collaborative? Are students friendly and social or do they keep inward to themselves? Are they cutthroat? Is there a sense of unity? What kind of person would belong there?

I’d say hard-working and friendly. Definitely collaborative rather than competitive. I get the feeling that it’s more laid-back than the “work-hard/play-hard” image that some other schools I’m familiar with like to cultivate. It’s a big enough school that most people can find like-minded people. From what I’ve seen, it’s a lot easier to get involved with clubs and activities as a freshman than is the case with some other schools where students have to go through a selective application process to join many activities.

Hard working, a bit on the nerdy side, but have a good balance between work and play.

I’m just going to agree with EllieMom. My guy has loved it there. Collaborative, friendly, nerdy, easy to try many new things, and in depth with the research/academics.
