D found out she was accepted into UROP program…just after she returned from orientation. At orientation, she didn’t attend the session on UROP thinking she wasn’t admitted. We don’t know much about this program. Does she need to select her own project? Her major is Undecided. I don’t believe she knows what she would be interested in researching.
There will be info session when school starts. She will find a list of faculties and projects to ser which ones she interests in. Then she will meet with the faculties individually. After that, she may be picked by one of them. UROP is a good way to learn and build up a relationship with a faculty that would be helpful for future recommendation.
So, even though she’s been accepted into the program, she still has to be selected by a faculty member for a project? I’m assuming then that there is no guarantee everyone will get picked.
It is a two way matching process. But if you are in the program, you will have a project.
