I just got accepted into Ursinus, and I applied early decision to the Park School at Ithaca. I doubt I'll get into Park but I think I'll get into Ithaca regularly... if that is the case, which would be a better fit for me if I want to study communications and media, while also having a fun college experience (i.e. social life, a great education, and a promising future due to school's reputation/internship opportunities) ?

If you want to study communications and get accepted into Park, GO THERE. Their communications school is awesome. However, if you don’t get accepted into Park but do into another program, I wouldn’t recommend it. It’s very hard to transfer to the Park school and if that’s what you want to do, I wouldn’t settle. Good luck!

Collegeville is a small town and ease of getting into Philadelphia isn’t that great. Ithaca has a much bigger feel (the town) with two major universities. Very different environments.

disagree with revoltxo; the freshmen who enter Ithaca in the Exploratory program have just as good a chance of being in Park after one or two years as the incoming Park Freshmen…

Park school has great contacts, resources and opportunities; can’t imagine Ursinus comes close…

If you applied ED to Park, and you are not accepted to Park but to an alternate Ithaca program, I do not think it is binding…

fish: no idea when they release ED; it’s only the second year they have even offered it; check the Ithaca forum from last year I guess…

It’s ok if you don’t want to, but PM me your stats if you’d like; don’t be so sure you’re not going to be admitted especially if you are full pay…

Rodney, it depends which other program he applied to. I’ve talked to admissions officers during my visit about my interest in a double major between Park and liberal arts…they said its a lot harder to apply as liberal arts and get into park than the other way around…however,if the OP applied to the exploratory program, that’s a different story…GL

i don’t mind posting my stats here, although i’m not sure what to post… my gpa is roughly a 2.6 out of 4.0, which is considered a high c+, although i’ve definitely had an upward trend throughout highschool. i did poorly my first 2 years, better my junior year, and have been getting all a’s and b’s so far this year with the exception of french, where i have a low c and possibly a d.

my sat scores are reading - mid 600’s, writing - mid 600’s, and math - 560.

and yes i will be doing “full pay” i believe. i have a lot of extracurriculars.

and i would be applying to the exploratory program rather than the liberal arts if i don’t get accepted into park. even though i know park is a long shot, i would love nothing more in this world than to go there.
