US dual citizen dilemma

Hi,
I am a US dual citizen. In the CommonApp, it is asked: How many years have you lived in the US? I have never lived more than one year in the US, but I CONSTANTLY travel there. does it affect me if I just choose the "less than one year" option? how important is this? thank you for any info input!!

I dont think it is of any importance. If you have done your schooling in a country where English is not the native language then you will have to present an english proficiency test (Toefl or IELTS). That's it.

yeah, thats the problem... i have no toefl..but... isnt there a "waive" system? e.g. in columbia, if you score higher than 650 on CR, you could waive the TOEFL requirement, i have 690 :s

Where do you live btw?

I guess Yale also offers some way to waive the Toefl requirement. I could not find anything on their website though, so try contacting the office of undergraduate admissions.

peru! thank you so much for "finding out", although i also had checked there and TOEFL was "strongly recommended" :/ guess it is not "obligatory"
