Our teacher has told us that we should try to use half of the documents to achieve a high score on the DBQ. However, looking at Collegeboard's scoring guidelines, they require a "substantial number" which sounds like more than half.

So, how many documents should students try to use?

My teacher told us that using “almost all” of the documents means leaving only one or two out. What I do is leave 1 out if it’s 9 documents or less, or 2 if it’s 10 documents or more.

Use all of the documents. But if there’s one document that you’re unsure of, you can leave it out. It’s better to miss one document than use that document incorrectly.
