Which one should i choose?

amsco, definitely. i also really liked the princeton review. it teaches vocab really well. if you want to spend even more money, get the barrons study cards.

I have the PR book that covers both US and world history, and it's great. The history review is easy to get through. Wish I had that as cliff's notes in class!!

Try to find some study flashcards.

I highly recommend the REA book as well.
Also the night before go on the APUS08 aim chat room, I remember last year a couple of the actual questions were asked in that chat room, and that helped me get those two points.

hey guys, what about barron's??

oh, barrons is horrible. its ok for learning to write the essays, but i seem to remember that it had barely any historical review.

APUS08 aim chat room ? I don't understand... can someone enlighten me.

Its an AIM chat room that pops up a little bit before the AP US test.
You know what I just realized, wrong forum.
This is for the SATII test, in that case I reccomend AMSCO.

For the AP test, REA + chat room, when it comes to AP US time just go to the AP Prep Board and all the info will be there.

also guys, is the AMSCO book an actual textbook? like the ones we use at school?

ps. can i order from book stores?

"no historical review"

does that mean it's all practice tests and no info on the actual history?

I got a 2003 Sparknotes SAT US History book and it was amazing. Great historical outline and it had a really nice index (no flashcards needed!) with every term imaginable. It was 50 cents.

I own two Amsco books (also 50 cents each at this humongo book event they hold 2 times a year). I read neither. Unless you plan to wither away for weeks studying for this test, I don't recommend the Amsco books. They are very, very lengthy, and I would only read them if 1) I didn't take a US History class 2) I enjoy reading long historical texts. Then again, you can get the Amsco books super cheap....

It all depends on what you want. For a quick review (i.e. if you start studying like a month in advance), I would recommend the Sparknotes or the REA.

I may be biased, but every Barron's book I own sucks.
Especially the Environmental Science one, holy crap!

i got 5 steps to a five..
and i got a 5!

i loved it.
