Hey, everyone. I am currently taking AP US History and I intend to take the AP test in May. Should I take the SAT II in US History even though I am a sophomore? I heard you should take them after your Junior year. However, I feel that I would be more prepared if I take it this year after I have had a whole year's experience in the class. Suggestions please?

well as long as you complete all the material, from colonial era to present day, then i don’t see why not. i have friends who took an SAT II at the end of their junior year, and it’s good to get a head-start

thats exactly what I did. I took APUSH as a sophomore and did the subject test that June (5 on the AP, 750 on the subject test). I would definitely recommend taking it - I feel relieved knowing that I have at least one test out of the way now

oh and learn from my experience - I studied like crazy for the AP test, and then didn’t do anything for the subject test. I wished I would have reviewed just a tiny bit the week before and gotten that 800 :)

good luck!

I don’t think it matters when you take the test as long as you score well. In June 2009, I took the AP World History course and took both the AP exam and the subject test, got good scores on both (5 and 750+). I dont’ think I could’ve had a higher score if I took the test now, since I haven’t been doing world history for more than 6 months. I think you should take it when you complete APUSH, because you’ll probably do your best at that time.

thanks everyone. I think I will take it at the end of this year and then do maybe Math and Chem or Math and Latin at the end of next year.
