--- US History Subject Test Review Thread ---

Yeah, I think ajibike might be referring to Keynes. I can’t think of who Kennan is.

OH the Marshall Plan?! Wow…I just made a huge idiot out of myself -_-

It’s okay. You’re probably just nervous. (Well I am… :S)

Don’t feel bad because I looked at your question and was searching for communism for like 10 minutes until I realized that Kennan was containing communism :)

We’re all gonna do well!

Thanks my fellow CCers. Yeah I panicked because I didn’t know the answer at first but it makes sense now. Any more questions? :] One more week, I have bio too. :[

Oh wow, didn’t know who Kennan was. Or I forgot.

Hopefully mcvcm.

I have bio also… I’ve been studying for that more.

I’m more nervous about the 20th century stuff than anything.

I don’t have a book in front of me right now…

TBH I haven’t even looked at biology ever since May 11 AKA the AP Exam. I’ll quickly skim this week in hopes of regaining back some information. I’m focusing more on US History because unlike the rest of the CCers, I didn’t take APUSH, I just took a full year regular level history course and we’re still on FDR :frowning: Somehow I have to study Truman, Eisenhower, and Johnson all within this week.

I took APUSH and Bio last year so my memory is a bit rusty. lol. I think if you understand the major themes of those presidencies you’ll be fine. You can make logical guesses if you know themes at least. Facts will probably disappear out of your mind more quickly and then it will suck.

Pinkstarcloud, I essentially self-studied US History for the SAT 2 exam in May and did pretty well (740). With a lot of effort, you still have enough time to learn virtually every crucial piece of information before the exam.

Shizzle and Charlie Brown-nu uh. Kennan was the “containment doctrine”. =) Woo, you guys had me nervous there for a bit.
I’m taking the BIO Subject test as well… ugh.

anyone have the link for questions on the may test?

Clearly neither of us knew ajibike… lol.

I was actually signed up for Chem b/c I took AP this year and Bio b/c it’s easy. But then I was like, “I hate chem.”

Back on track:

Which of the following statements about social trends in the United States between 1945 and 1970 is INCORRECT?
(A) There was an overall increase in college enrollment.
(B) The proportion of blue-collar jobs in the economy decreased.
(C) Increasing numbers of African American children attended racially integrated schools.
(D) There was an exodus of population from the cities to the suburbs.
(E) By the end of the period, a lower proportion of women were working outside the home than at the beginning.

lol straight off of CB.

lol i think its the blue collar jobs
cause everything else WAS true (i think)

so i say B

just cause everything else is right (i think)

wut are blue collar jobs anyway???

George Kennan wrote the Long Telegram and the Mr. X article - famous for being one of the first to outline the idea of containment.

My bad. I have never had a question about him specifically in any of my practice tests.

Yeah that’s why I say B also. I’m pretty sure all the others are correct. Blue collar jobs are like manufacturing (as opposed white collar, which are like professional jobs).

Nope, it’s E.

After WWII more women were working. Blue collar jobs did decrease as more people opted for higher education and professional work, along with mass production and increase in technology.

I got another question

In all of the following pairs, the words or phrases in parentheses help to bring about or contribute to the item with which they are paired EXCEPT
(A) Abolitionist, sentiment (Seward’s “higher law”)
(B) G.O.P. control in the South 1867-1875 (waving the bloody shirt)
(C) Dewey’s occupation of the city of Manila (Admiral Cervera)
(D) The split between Taft and Theodore Roosevelt (Pinchot-Ballinger)
(E) Blaine’s leadership in the Republican party (“Stalwarts”)

I think a-d are right. But I’ve never heard of e so I don’t know. Is it E?
