USA June 2011 SAT: MATHEMATICS Discussion Thread

What was the answer to y = |f(x)|? (it was one of the last questions in one of the math sections)

Also, what was experimental? Did anyone get the grid-in math section with the ball being tossed on the square divided into points and the Crazy Hat Day?

so did the parabola open upward or rightward?

@econhopeful
let’s hope!
I got an 80 on my psat for math and im pretty confident that I got an 800 today

What was the one with the a^k and something along the lines of a^t or n

For the answer I got nt because I remember getting something like a^k = a^nt. If anyone remembers the question that would help

damn, another dumb mistake.

m = 2k? (variables might be wrong lol)

Does anyone remember (a^2)^k= a^m, what is m? I don’t even remember if I put an answer down for this one -______-
-(x+2)+(-2)^2 (#8 on fill in section) ?

@chris opened upward

I also got k=nt

Oh yeahhh, I had an experimental math (2 25-minute sections), which one was non-experimental?

supergrover its 2k

I put (4^2)^2 = 4^3. so m was 3?

@supergrover911
(a^2)^k = a^m
apply log base a to both sides to get 2^k =m

your #8 is correct also

@cinereous I got the answer that was (something, -6)…it was like c or d

why was the pen question 1.6?

What was the answer to the triangle? (number 14) was it that it only had a right angle?

There were 2 parabolas (sp?) that faced upwards. One had a positive y -intercept and one was offset on the x axis. Anyone confirm which one? I set a constant and graphed and it was offset on the x axis. Not sure…

kuna the answer for that was none.

@kevinsupreme, I’m certain m=2k, not m=2^k
It was a^2k = a^m. Take out the a’s and you get 2k = m

@supergrover: I think it was m=2k. I think that #8 is right (highest value is 4).
