USABO 2016-2017

Hey! I got a 120.41 on the semifinal exam. Based on summary stats released, I believe that this should place me around 100th in the nation. Now, USABO doesn’t give “medals” or anything for scoring well on the Semifinal exam, unlike USAPhO. However, getting 100th in the nation in my opinion is a pretty good accomplishment, so I would want to write it on my resume and such to distinguish myself from other USABO Semi-finalists. Do you guys think it would be ok to self-report my exact place once the correct histogram is released?

@paul49ers Yes, if you are sure

Did anyone get a Top 50 Certificate today/this week? Just received mine:D

@staticjava what score did you get on the semifinal?

also does anyone know if the real histogram is out yet?

@ Staticjava… was this mailed to you? And please share your score if willing. Thanks and congrats!

If anyone needs a PDF of Raven’s Plant Bio 8th edition, pm me.

ok. speaking of which, are we on the grind yet for the open next year?

I’m not, lol. I think I might run through all of Khan Academy’s bio stuff over winter break and quizlet random stuff throughout the year.

Oh ok. Do people normally start studying this early tho or is it a stretch??

I honestly don’t know. I’m pretty sure that there are a few people on CC who have made camp. They’d know wayyy better than I do.

I started in the beginning of July last year, but I also had a concurrent competition that ate up just as much time. I would jump from cramming for one competition to another, 2 hours a day usually, 5 hours a day during winter break, and 3 hours a day from March until May.
If you’re only focusing on USABO, then you could start now and take it easy later. If you have alot of discipline in studying, you could start in September or October. If you have other high level competitions, now would be a good time.

@veggieburrito For animal anatomy I would say read Sherwood or Vander’s. Campbell is not super comprehensive.
