I have completed the application process (officially a “candidate” on USAFA paperwork) and received a nomination from my Senator. Does having a nomination improve your chances of being appointed? Additionally, I attended the summer seminar program, will this help? Thanks in advance.

A nomination is required. Where it came from or how many you have don't give you points. It's only beneficial to have more than one if you didn't get a principal nomination.

and summer seminar doesn't help except in the capacity that if you are equal with another candidate (like same grades, test scores, ec activities), it would give you a leg up. but it won't make or break you.

The only thing multiple noms gives you is the ability for the AFA to find a way to get you in.

I.E.
You have 1 nom, you rank number 4 on the WCS for the slate. You can stil get in, theorertically you could be number 10 and get in, realistically that is rare. How does this occur?

Cand 1. Has 4 noms (all 3 MOCs and Pres). The highest WCS, the AFA can choose any source to charge, but select Pres.
Cand 2. Has 3 noms (all 3 MOCs) The second highest WCS after 1 and the AFA charges Pres
Cand.3 Has 3 noms (All 3 MOCS). Next highest on the list they charge to Sen B, but could have charged any of the three..
You only have 1 nom by your Cong., The other 3 will on the list with a higher WCS. You are 4th, and TA-DA now the highest WCS...congrats you get the appt. The AFA could have only brought you in under this route b4 putting you in the pool.

Again theoretically, if number 1-3 turn down appts, than the list gets re-arranged again. It is all about the WCS and making a giant puzzle.
