Makebank - so you're saying they expect both 3.8 from 4 yr university and CC?

If you want to do banking, why are you trying to transfer to Marshall and not Stern?

Madsc11, I really wanna get into Hollywood: not acting-wise, but behind the scenes, like at production companies.

So that's why I REALLY wanna start internships at production companies ASAP, and maybe work my way up.

I applied to Marshall, because I saw the companies that had hired Marshall students, and there were some entertainment companies there, so I thought maybe Marshall could be a great way to get my foot in the door.

And in case the movie thing didn't work out, there would probably be better opportunities elsewhere (i.e. an actual law firm). And I could use my business degree to do that kind of business/corporate law, you know?

But I really am thinking about just changing it to communications or econ (my second choice, doesn't this increase my chances of getting into CLAS? I hope lol). Econ I guess will be my backup major maybe but I dunno...

I wanna just get in first! lol but its an interesting topic, because I'm gonna probably worry about it in the summer if I get in, so I'd rather just worry about it now lol.

okay so..because i'm a sophomore even with my 4.0..do you think i'll get a spring grade request still..i took 21 units during fall semester..

domo arigato Mr. Roboto grey ;) hahaha

soo..i was just able to logon to oasis through the student way not the applicant way...exciting..but probably means nothing.

I've done that too. Click on the "USC Financial Planner" and see what it says. :(

geez..the things students do to try and find out a little earlier..

i'm a freshmen san francisco state university. a four year public state school

i want to transfer to usc to attend in the fall of '10

i predict a 3.8 for my gpa by the time i apply. im an officer in a latino business club, im active in three other clubs. and i do choir for church. i also plan to enter the stock market in a few weeks, these are my extra curriculars

i will complete the prereqs for undergrad transfer by the end of my sophomore year.

what are the chances that i'll be accepted??

If you maintain a 3.8 and finish Micro/Macro Econ, Calculus, Accounting, etc. you'll have a good shot.

I really like how this thread is ALWAYS near the top of the Transfer Students section

Taiwaneseterror - Well it's just an average, they don't expect everyone to meet at that GPA. But yes on the part of the 4yr university comparable to cc when transferring. Like I said before, USC has said that they do not discriminate from whatever background you are in such as current college you are attending.

To answer the question about transferring to Marshall and Stern, I'm actually applying to both along with some other schools Fall 10'. I rather go to NYU Stern (no offence to USC Marshall, my oldest brother graduated from there and my middle brother goes there for MBA) because it's Wall Street, banking is big there, and I love New York.

aaam90 - as for a SGR, it really is determined by the information they have gathered from your application. If you are taking a lot of prereqs during the spring semester then you bet they'll give you a SGR. If you are on the borderline of admissions you will receive one as well. Most freshmen applicants applying for sophomore standing usually receive SGR's because of the lack of sufficient units to weigh in for minimum and also because of time.

emiliotheman - Your chances are really good if you're at a 3.8 GPA (if your prediction is right). It looks like you might be applying to Marshall School of Business, so you definantly meet the average accepted applicant. As for your extra curriculars, they look pretty good. But I don't really think dabbling in the Stock Market is an extra curricular, if so then I've been making steady money in that EC and in it for a long time.

It looks like you know what to take for prereqs and when to transfer. Although I think your chances are quite good at this point (it is only if you can meet that prediction). I'm also applying Fall 10' and I've finished the prereqs this year (freshmen year) and also have similar stats as you but not as high gpa.

Keep up the good work.

Arch....like I said before I currently work for a law firm, and given your situation...as far as what kind of law you want to defend, and produce in hollywood. Then I guess I would stick with Marshall. But it's up to you, you have to feel comfortable about your choice. You'll know.

Happy 100 Page anniversary everyone!

archieg - from my brother's experience (graduated undergraduate from USC Marshall emphasis in Finance and Marketing), if you're looking for an entertainment occupation Marshall is able to deliver. Usually they tend to come by due to the fact that USC's Cinematic Arts is ranked #1 in the nation. Companies such as Warner Brothers, Lionsgate, Fox, Paramount, Sony Pictures, and etc.

I don't know exactly what you might be looking into for an emphasis in Business but these jobs tend to be handling the budget, working with banks receiving loans for production, projected sales, revenue, and etc. You don't ever work with the celeberties/actors unless they are managing the floor with producers. This isn't really the field where you were to be an executive producer or producer in a day unless you have a very strong cinematic or theatre field.

MakeBank24- thanks for your answer. My major doesn't have any prereqs and i finished all the GE requirements (except for categories 4 and 6 since we have to take them at USC) so basically my classes are more of elective type classes right now.

(but i made sure they were academically rigorous)

i'm pretty excited. i got a call for an interview with Thornton admissions. For Music Industry majors, this is one of the only opportunities to really show what your all about and I'm happy because i didn't get one last year!

I'm sure no one really cares because most of you aren't MI majors haha

That's great. Congratulations and good luck!

That's great, nonstopskratchin.

Hopefully you'll have much better results in your admissions process this time around. Best of luck in your interview.
