Laker,

I’ve been having the same problem. Just call the phone number that shows up to make a reservation. I’m not going in October, I think I’m going in January. Call soon because the spots can get filled up.

@ernily - I think they are added automatically when you send in your transcript, so you don’t provide them in the application. When I applied last year (2009) that section was blocked out for me too.

@OsaRedLegg - No, admissions looks at much more than just your GPA. Your personal statement is important, and you have a section to explain past performance and life experience. If you spend time on both of those, your GPA will be less of an issue.

thanks for the helpful info Amorrison!

@lakerforever24: Yeah, I’m going to the October 16th one! But I made my reservations back in September, so I didn’t have any problem with the system, and I use Safari.

@mrkman: Thanks sooo much, you’re helping me soo much!

One more question: Should I fill out the CSS profile now, or fill it out when I actually submit my application? And since I want to wait for my Fall 2009 grades to be posted (with fall units, I’ll have 36, and therefore they won’t really pay attention to high school), and that won’t be until January, I’m not going to submit my app until mid-January. Is this too late to get any aid from the school, even after doing the FAFSA and CSS?

I am going to have 25 units by the time this fall semester is done…and ill have 40 done by the time spring is done…They wanted 30 by the time you transfer(not when you actually submit the application) to not look at the HS stuff right? Because in that case Ill have more…

You need at least 30 by the time you apply, not by the time you transfer, for them to ignore your hs record.

^ I’m not sure that’s true. I think that if you have 30+ by the end of spring, they will overlook your HS record pending your spring grades. In other words, you will get a spring grade request for sure. I thought the same thing as you, skyline, but my observations from last year proved me to be wrong.

@grey_syntactics - Yes, I think that’s right. Otherwise, they wouldn’t send SGRs.

I don’t know, I emailed them last year and they said they will still look at your high school record if you have under 30 credits at time of application. The SGR and your high school record are not mutually exclusive. They still look at your high school record but they also send you a sgr if you’re on the edge or have been asked to maintain a certain minimum gpa.

For what it is worth, when I applied last year I had 15 units completed and received an SGR. My high school record is nonexistent because I dropped out during my sophomore year. Ultimately, I was rejected, but not right away (I had 26 after Spring, 31 after Summer, but was rejected in July).

I read on this post that one of the requirements to transfer is Econ 203/205 (along with satisfying Writ 130 and Intermediate Algebra)

where does it say you need Econ? Is it really required?

@PizzaEggroll,

That’s a Marshall School of Business requirement. It’s only required for those majoring in Business Admin.

is business/marshall the top ranked program at USC? like what other majors/programs is USC known for? bc all i know is that marshall is currently tied for 10th best undergrad b programs by US News

Has anyone else started writing their essay? If so, what prompt did you pick?

Laker,

It probably depends who you talk to but I know the USC School of Cinematic Arts (Film School) is BIG TIME. Their film school is easily in the top 5 in the nation.

AMorrison, what major are you applying for and what school are you from?

History, and I’m from Pasadena City College.

AMorrison - I’ve sort of completed my essay. The prompt I chose was the “what matters to me and why”. Also I go to PCC too. High five on having winter intercession!
