USC 2010 Transfer Thread

I had everything together for my supplemental information(transcripts, rec’s, etc.) to drive down to USC and turn in today. However, upon turning in my info, my college transcript was missing. I looked everywhere, until my mom finally tells me that she might have thrown it out not knowing what it was. Now I have to go order a new transcript and, not trusting the USPS, drive it down there to make the deadline on Monday. However, my school is EXTREMELY SLOW with processing even RUSHED transcript requests. What I am trying to ask is how strict is USC about supplemental information being in by the February 1(Monday) deadline?

@rhandler33 First, have you faxed them an unofficial copy of your transcript? If so, you really don’t need to worry about it as long as you get it in sooner than later. If not, its still not a big deal. I called the Admissions Office to check on this a week or so ago when I realized they wouldn’t get my transcripts recorded until it was too late to send them again by the deadline and they said to fax unofficial and just get the officials to them as soon as I could. So what I am answering is, they’re not that strict as long as your application is in.

@rhandler - Print out an unofficial transcript and deliver that with your packet. Order a new official one and have it sent to them. It shouldn’t be a big deal/impact you.

Can someone please deny or confirm that as long as we have our transcripts postmarked by February 1, we’ll be fine? Or does USC have to have them BY February 1?

Thanks

@zach504 & rhandler33 - It is the Application itself that is due by Feb 1st, not your supplemental information. As long as you have the Application itself submitted online or turned in by feb 1st, you will be ok as long as you get everything else in asap. Admissions rep told me that via email the other day. You are welcome to call in the morning to double check as well.

@zack504 & rhandler33- i can also comfirm with what kulakai said. I personally went over to USC to ask about transcripts being late, they said its not a problem. BUT, do get them in ASAP. if anything i would make sure to atleast call in and see if they will take your unofficial for now.

awesome, thanks

@mxbile131 - i was in the same situation too haha. I chose an activity that changed me and bettered me. for ex. i chose my hobby of playing ukulele. it helped me learn not only music but responsibility, patience, and a way to express myself. i am self taught, so there were a lot of things i gained from that.

for you, your exercise can be much more than just burning calories. ex persistence. my friend wrote his essay on exercise and how he used it to overcome his asthma and is now running triathlons like ironman etc.

gl!

So the supplemental information only includes the high school transcript and college transcript?

noodlesli- & recommendation letters if applicable

hey do you think by sending in our winter grades we are more likely to avoid a sgr?

It depends on what classes you are taking in the spring and if you have less than 30 units. If you are completing major or GE pre-reqs in the spring and have less than 30 units it is likely you will get a SGR but not guaranteed. I believe last year some people just got accepted or rejected.

so if i have more than 30 but im not done w/ all the GEs til after spring its likely to be either accepted or rejected?
i would definitely rather get an sgr than get rejected.

No, if you’re not done with GEs until after spring you may get a SGR. Again, last year there were some who were just rejected, others who were just accepted, but the majority (at least, it seemed that way) got SGRs. I was rejected after receiving one, but I only completed 26 units after spring.

oh alright thanks, but do u think it helps out at all to send it in?

It doesn’t hurt.

Im in the military right now and I hope to get back in to college once I get out. I was wondering if there is a difference in what community college I goto if I want to transfer to USC. Im planning on going to Cypress right now. Also what kind of extra curricular activities should I join? I want to goto the school of public policy and development. Thanks.

i send my college transcript online thru the system and didnt include a cover sheet…i didnt realize i need those until i read the admission page again…but i did include the form7? with my highschool transcript…is that a problem i didnt submit my college one with the cover sheet???

"Your personalized forms are not available yet. In the meantime, you can download the blank forms below: "

Does anyone know how long it takes after you submit your application for the forms to be available?

Hey, I have a question about cover sheets…
Is the only cover sheet the one for high school transcripts?
That’s the only one I see on the admissions webpage, I don’t see one for the college transcripts.
Just making sure!
