is anyone else receiving multiple letters in the mail from USC? i got the same letter 3 times now. it’s the letter thanking me for applying to usc. making me worried that they have 3 separate accounts/files for me

i have a question too …

my current app status says:
Undergraduate Application (Part II, Fall 2010)
We are unable to process the status of your application at this time. Please try again later, or Contact Us with any questions or concerns you might have.

Does anyone else have the same status?

@molamann- im independent as well, but it looks like css still need ur parents income; i hope they dont factor it in tho
@lakerforever24- i got the same 3 letters too

you have to be 26 to be considered as an independent for CSS profile/USC. for public universities that use FAFSA, you have to be 24. but since USC is private they don’t have to use federal guidelines when distributing aid

@LagunaSC - Hey you were RIGHT! My status got changed to “We have received your application, and it appears we need more information. Please ensure you have submitted all required items.” today Just sent that form 6 in through gotfreefax.com so hopefully I’m all done now.

^is that freefax site legit? i don’t have a fax so i was wondering how other people send in the forms

^I just went to Kinkos/Fed Ex Office (whatever they call themselves these days) and used a fax there. It was quick and easy. Cost a little bit, but that’s how I did it.

@Kulaki - Good, better to be safe than sorry… and who said cliche’s weren’t useful?!?

@LakerForever24 and jhsocal - When did you guys submit your apps? I did mine a couple of days before the deadline so I’m not expecting anything anytime soon, but just so I have a reference it would be nice to know.

@hstudent890 Thats weird. But before making anything of it, I would wait a couple of days to see if the system sorts itself out.

@lakerforever24 - Yes it is legit. You don’t have to use their cover sheet and there are no ads on your fax, totally free. You can send up to 3 pages at a time, twice a day. There is also a status of your fax and they’ll send you a confirmation when it goes through. I got the confirmation email from usc as well once they received it. I use that site all the time for faxing stuff.

@laguna: i submitted mine on january 23rd. and i received 3 letters since then thanking me for my submission

if anyone mailed in their transcripts, how long did it take to update on the “admissions document” status list? i mailed in my official cc transcript on the 25th and it still isn’t updated

@lakerforever24 - i called in about the status update and they said it takes about 2 weeks. if it takes longer than 2 weeks, call in so they can search for it and make sure they received it.

I personally handed in all my documents on the 21st and i still have no status update.

hey laker, how do i access the admissions document status list?

^just go to USConnect, go to admissions, then click the right box that says “admissions documents.” it’s right next to the box u go to apply

@hstudent890 I’ve had the “unable” status for a few days now. I’m sure it’ll work itself out though

@LagunaSC- i submitted mine on jan 3rd

@lakerforever24
Thanks for the clarification on the CSS.

On another note, can anybody confirm whether the GPA I accumulated at my CC(only counting the transferable courses for obvious reasons) count towards my overall graduating GPA? I’m asking this because I was always under the notion that it does but several people I’ve talked to recently begs to differ.

@ molemann you can use http://www.back2college.com/gpa.html to calculate your GPA it’s simple and accurate, just put in the credits and the grade you received, you can even organize it by putting in the course name.

@lakerforever Yeah I’ve gotten the same letter 3 times now as well, obviously has to be some sort of error on their part.

Also… that oasis site is really helpful, it lets you know if you need to send them any additional documents, for admission or financial aid. I’d be so confused without it.

I had my school send my transcripts the 7th and still no update. They assured me it was sent, but damn lol. What is taking so long?

I am assuming it take 7-10 business days to get to USC since I just did regular shipping, and another 2-3 weeks to process it.

I’ll give them one more week before I start freaking out.

@holyschmidt
Sent mine two weeks and USC’s document status still shows as not received. I’m just gonna go hand carry it to them tomorrow.
