So I don’t have legacy at USC from my parents or grandparents, but my uncle graduated from SC, so should I ask him to write me a rec, or utterly pointless?

@SkylineisMine (or whoever else can help)

Thanks for getting back to me about that oasis account. I went ahead and set that up and I checked my status and it reads:

“We have received your application, and it appears we need more information. Please ensure you have submitted all required items. Due to the high volume of application documents we receive, allow sufficient processing time.”

But in the next section it says- Required (documents and information you need to submit):
None

It says that I am missing documents but then it says I don’t… What gives???

Man this is going to be a long couple months!!! Can’t Wait!!

^
What I have:
"Required
Documents and information you need to submit
None

Received
None"

So I don’t have legacy at USC from my parents or grandparents, but my uncle graduated from SC, so should I ask him to write me a rec, or utterly pointless?

Yeah and I have gotten the “thanks for applying” four times and today got two haha, if I put undecided for my first choic major, and the second choice they put is international relations (I didn’t put that down) should I tell them, or does it not matter since my number one is undecided?

Woot, just saw my update on the application and they don’t need anymore documents and have received everything :D. And yea like many people my mom has been telling me USC has been sending me one of those letter confirmation and thank you letters everyday this week, I have like 5 of the same letters ;o I guess more letters is better than none, getting my 40$ worth!

I just checked my application status and apparently my high school transcript still hasn’t gotten to USC. Do you guys think this will affect my chances for admission?

@mxbile131: Did you login through https://usconnect.usc.edu/ ? That is the overall correct portal you should be logging in through. The next step should is to click on “Admission” or “Financial Aid” and each has a link to connect you automatically to your online documents. Registering on Oasis separately just gives you a separate password for it altogether. Just login through the above link.

@rcwhite Unless your uncle offers some other insight into your application, I wouldn’t have him write an LoR with the main reason being he is an alumnus.

@TheGoldFinch When did you send it in? They say to allow 2 weeks at the minimum for mailed items to be put into the system, but at this busy time many people on this thread have been waiting longer. So no, it won’t affect your chances of admission as long as they eventually know they have it.

I sent my documents via mail with delivery confirmation and they were received last Saturday and still show up as having not been received on Oasis. It is safe to assume they are receiving thousands of pieces of mail which they have to sort and process which is why there is such a delay.

@ LagunaSC: I believe my high school sent it in some time last week, despite the fact that I gave them all the information a while ago. I contacted my high school and they faxed USC a copy just in case. Phew.

Anybody else have “Click here to submit mid-year grades online” under your application status? I never noticed it before and from what I see, it only applies to Freshman?

^ I have it underneath mine as well. I think it’s just regarding freshman applicants.

Hey guys for the admissions checklist it list that USC has received the following:

Received
- High School Transcript
- Personal Statement Activity Sheet
- Personal Statement Activity Sheet
- Personal Statement Activity Sheet
- Personal Statement Activity Sheet
- Undergraduate Application

and that nothing else is required for me to submit. My question what about my college transcripts? Should there be a “College Transcript” bullet as well?

Yeah there should be one Zack. I have one on my list.

Should there also be a “Letter of Recommendation” bullet?

I have a LOR checkmark but I didn’t submit one. USC is a bit messy with the admissions process, eh? People getting 4 letters in the mail, error messages when there shouldn’t be, etc

Zach, mine says that as well. Except with the College/acadmeic summary bullet also.

No college transcript has been listed yet even though it should be there by now, I’m probably going to call next week to see what’s up.

This is what a complete application looks like:

College/Univ Academic Summary
- High School Transcript
- Transcript: Irvine Valley College
- Letter of recommendation (if it applies)
- Personal Statement Activity Sheet
- Personal Statement Activity Sheet
- Personal Statement Activity Sheet
- Personal Statement Activity Sheet
- Undergraduate Application
- Web Part I App

Don’t worry if yours is even slightly different. Each application is handled differently for each major. For the second time, if you’ve submitted a document, give it 3-4 weeks. Droning on and worrying about what gets submitted is tiresome. Frankly, I would be more proactive and get the financial aid end of things completed.

This is what a complete Financial Aid submission looks like:
- FAFSA Data
- PROFILE Data
- Tax Return, 2009 - Student
- Tax Return, 2009 - Parent (OR the Parent non-filing statement)

If you will be 26 years or older by the time you are attending USC, then the last item will not be needed at all.

I’m more interested in who will be taking on-campus housing, and who will be living off-campus. I need to find a place, and I’m looking now rather than rushing at the last minute in May/June when I receive an prospective acceptance letter. Stay ahead of the curve here, people.

I will be looking at off-campus, student-affiliated apartments just North of USC (where many of the students tend to live- near the McClintok Entrance on Jefferson). I would prefer to live by myself, and thus far, am looking at The Pointe, The Tower, and The Spot, among others. I will, however, apply for campus housing, though I’d prefer something a bit nicer and unfurnished. It really depends on what my dad says- I’m not sure that he’s crazy about the idea of me living alone off-campus in LA.

Hmmm, under my “Received” document, I have “Student’s Correspondence”. Does anyone know what this could be? Also, my official SAT report is listed as received from when I applied as a freshman. Is there a need to send them again as a transfer student?
