<p>I was going through the 2010 decisions thread and I noticed that a lot of people were transferring in as sophomores even though they applied as juniors with over 60 credits? Does anyone know how USC determines whether you’ll be a sophomore or junior? Im just really scared because my major requires that I transfer as a junior and I will have 59 units completed by the end of this semester.</p>

<p>USC updates your class standing when your final transcripts are sent. For example, someone who applies with 50 credits while currently taking 15 during the spring will be classified as a sophomore. Once they send in their final transcript including the final grades for the spring semester, the standing will then be changed to reflect the current class standing.</p>

So a junior is a student who will have 64 units by the end of the summer before the fall semester begins? I plan on taking a 5 unit class in the summer which will bring me up to exactly 64 transferable credits, but the class does not end till the end of July.</p>

<p>@deltron there was a transfer engineering presentation on saturday for admitted students and only like 3 people showed up. The assistant director of undergrad admissions said that they are still reviewing applications. Decisions should be coming soon…</p>

Correct. I believe to be junior standing you must have accumulated 64 credits. I’m not positive though. For those applying with numerous credits just do not be alarmed if your standing is a sophomore. Once you send in your final transcripts the standing will be revised to reflect the number of credits on the final transcript.</p>

Also make sure USC allows for accepted students to take summer classes. I have heard of schools forbidding students to take summer classes once they have been accepted. I would just double check and confirm.</p>

<p>how was that? I really just want to find out. I have 3 finals this week, then I have nothing to think about until I start my co-op, which is like 3 weeks of nothing… haha</p>
<p>@deltron it was pretty informative. They had an expo after where all the engineering organizations came out and they had a professor and student informing about specific majors (they had rooms for each department). Kind of crowded since all the admitted freshmen were invited :T So much USC pride everywhere on campus! Too bad they are so slow with transfers… Hopefully you will hear back soon!</p>
