hyeth- yes! That’s true too! and james…yeah

To all those financial aid experts:

I just submitted the CSS Profile. I said that my parents will file the IRS form for 2010, and they said they need a copy of it after I submitted it. For some of the questions, My mom gave me a estimate, but if they look at the IRS Form and see that some answers are different than the app I just submitted, are they going to penalize my application?

Yeah, I didn’t have the english requirement done, but I also said that I would not have it done by Spring when i initially sent in my application and I still got a SGR. So that’s why I’m assuming the unit thing happened.

So, cool. I’m going to send a letter talking about that class :]. One thing though is that I had that class from Pierce College (the B) transfered to my main college, College of the Canyons, because last year I needed enough units at 1 college to be eligible for a Cal Grant. So in my total UC GPA calculated on my unofficial transcripts, it includes that B, however, my unofficial transcripts (and official I think?) only say that I transfered 3 units from Pierce as a B, it doesn’t say the class.

So say I write a letter saying that the Pierce class should not count or whatever, will the grade still be calculated because it also lies on my COC transcript, or will they take it out of there too?

nabile- Oh I see, hmm… that is strange… but USC said they don’t have a unit limit. Also, didn’t you apply for Biology? There are a lot of courses required for that major… What was your second one?

Can someone just enlighten me please…I’m a little confused.
I’m looking at the articulation agreement for the colleges I have attending and it seems as though I have completed the writing requirement, however I do not have the exact courses completed listed in Catergorie I-V, but I do have over 30 of the courses completed listed under the “PART III: ALL COURSES THAT TRANSFER FOR CREDIT” portion of the articulation agreement. So would that satisfy the 30 units needed to transfer?

I’m contacting my admissions counselor in the morning to figure this out as well…I just would like to know if I have the recommended minimum courses done…sigh

USC has no “minimum” unit requirement for transfer admission. However, I believe the 30 units that you have completed will lead the committee to determine your admission decision solely on your college record. You have the writing requirement completed, but if you go to a California community college and your courses aren’t listed under the specific GE categories to which they pertain, then you have not yet completed any other USC GE requirements.

Does anyone know from which colleges or universities Transfer Merit scholarship recipients have come?

An admissions counselor at Marshall told me that last year’s recipients had an average GPA of 3.8, and they gave it to over 20 students. If anyone has statistics on any of last year’s recipients, please let me know!

I went to Moorpark, but I also have credits from a community college in Vegas. And from what I see the courses which are equivalent according to USC can transfer, whether they are from Moorpark or CSN (college of southern Nevada). And the 30 or so units I have have are all listed specifically under the PART III: ALL COURSES THAT TRANSFER FOR CREDIT. So I apologize for my over analyzations, but my application should be reviewed as a college transfer, and they would not base my acceptance or denial on my high school record…correct?

I’m just wondering about the processing transcript. I send both of my high school and college transcript last week and yet they receive my high school, but not my college one yet. Should I worry about it?

Second, I miss out on the financial aid deadline because my mom wouldn’t give me her tax information. Is there any other way for financial aid somehow?

Hey guys
Something has been really bugging me since I sent in my application so I hope you guys can help me out.
I took Intermediate Algebra (Math 40) first semester to fufill the math requirement for USC. Due to m grandfather becoming ill, I had to drop the class to take care of him due to the fact that my mother is a single parent. I dropped the class with an W. I explained my situation in the optional short answer. I also told them that I am currently taking the class for Spring Semester. Do you thing they will penalize me for this especially because it is a nontransferable course?

Here are some stats:
Second semester at Cypress College, Class of 2010 from Cerritos High School
completed 29 transferable units after summer+fall semester. I currently have a 3.41 GPA.
Currently taking 29 transferable units. will have 58 completed by spring in addition to all my GE requirements, diversity requirements and English requirements. My major, which is Philosophy, Politics and Law, has no major requirements. Regardless, I took 2 philosophy and 2 political science classes in my summer and fall semesters. Received an A in all of them. Currently taking two more polisci courses in addition to honors philosophy. I am applying for sophomore admission. Do you think I stand a chance? I did not send in a letter of recommendation but many say my essay was well written. it speaks about my challenge of transitioning from a 2.5 HS gpa to finishing 50+units and fulfilling all of USCs major requirements within one year. I also was involved in an internship for a state assembly candidate and helped run his campaign. Lastly, I am in the honors program at my school in addition to working 16 hours a week. Do you guys think I stand a fighting chance? I would be happy with a SGR…I know that will motivate me to get a 4.0. Thank you for your time. Fight on!

Hey, USC doesn’t have a unit limit but if you have less than 30 units by spring they go primarly by your HS transcripts and SAT’S. My HS gpa was like a 1.9 and NO SATS :/

Yeah I applied as Bio, but for sophmores it said I just needed like 2 prereqs or something, donno.

nabiles- I see… it could be because of the fact that you didn’t take any SATS. Just a quick question though… I had some indention problems on my app for some reason…when i submitted my application… it was perfectly indented but when i clicked on forms to download…it was all messed up for some weird reason…did you have that problem to? I don’t think USC is going to care?
