USC 2011 Transfer Thread

To be honest, if I get in and I don’t figure out a way to substantially lower the amount I’ll be paying, I’m not enrolling despite how hard I worked for it. There’s no way I’m going to even consider paying over 100k in loans after I get out of college. If I can’t afford USC, I’ll wait another year and consider Berkeley or something else on the same playing field.

jamesbball911, can you please show me where you are getting this information. I have never heard of a humanities class fulfilling the lower division writing requirement.

MissJay humanities is a writing course only…

Yeah, Missjay you just have to look at your school’s articulation agreement with SC. My school offers a humanities 1c class that fulfills the writing requirement + category 1.

at everyone:

After we finish the CSS Profile, what is the next step? Do we have to mail in something? Ahh!!

idk about mailing anything in but under USConnect, you should go under the financial aid tab and input your parents info from their 2010 taxes and submit your tax info if you have any to send in. deadline i believe is march 2.

Hey guys, I’m just wondering, do tax returns and stuff have to be submitted by March 2nd also? Or just the estimates? Thanks!

Alright, can we mail it in?

@nabilesmail: Well there is always the case where they can audit your app and ask you to send in your entire tax return and schedules (which is what happened to me) to make sure you’re not lying on your fin aid app. because of the chance that they can ask for your info, it may not be wise to put estimates.

@CallofDuty84: I’m sure you can but i’d call to make sure. the parents tax info for USC is just a form through USConnect so there’s no need to fax/mail.

@ stressed444

Actually, when you’re filling out the form, you will notice that the word “estimate” comes up a lot. The reason for that is many people/parents have not turned in their tax return forms in yet. Therefore, there is no other choice than to estimate those amounts. Furthermore, those amounts will be reviewed anyways since we must send in our tax forms. I figure they’ll be able to discern the differences between the estimates and real numbers and be able to make a valid decision as to how much each person receives in aid.

ok guys, i’m seriously freaking out now.

i originally got a letter from USC about 3 weeks after I mailed my transcripts stating that they had not received them. after being advised by the admission office to wait a little, i decided to take transcripts in person to the admissions office. i took them approximately 10 days ago in person and got an official application receipt from admissions.

i just got a letter saying the following:

"We have recently checked your application file to see if it is complete. Unfortunately, we find that items we have previously requested of you have still not been received. Those items are listed on the attached page. We wish to bring our decision on your application to a close, but we cannot without the missing items.

This is the last request we will send you about your incomplete file. Whatever your plans are we wish you the best."

F R E A K I N G O U T! … calling them first thing tomorrow morning!

did anyone else get one?

@hyethga4lyfe- What major did you apply for? Ya just call tomorrow, and figure it out.

@hyethega4lyfe

Don’t even sweat it. Just give them a call tomorrow. Most likely they sent out (or typed and had the letter ready to be sent) before they received your documents you sent in.

;)

@callofduty - i applied as undeclared

@snizzle - i really hope so, thanks!

its weird that it says “we wish to bring our decision on your application to a close” when they don’t even have transcripts and logically they shouldn’t even be reviewing transfer apps yet.

i’ll let you guys know what happens when i call

@missjay
My school also has the articulation agreement that allows you to knock out two birds with one stone. It is a great advantage if the articulation allows it.

@snizzle
I know I wanted to just stay at the Marshall building it was bittersweet torture! I really liked the Tutor Campus Center thing or whatever.

This forum is a great motivator. Whenever I don’t feel like doing my Accounting homework, I come on here and read these posts and get even more motivated. The excitement is contagious.

I’m visiting for a week now and I seriously can’t wait to find out haha

hey guys i’ve been calling admissions since 9:30am, all i get is a busy signal :/

talked to an operator too, she just said “yea admissions is busy, call back later.”

Wonder why they are so busy, seeing as deadlines are long over and all.

Maybe because of a deadline this week - financial aid documents due March 2nd.

But aren’t financial aid and admissions different people? I’ve never called to speak with a financial aid person, so I wouldn’t know.

I should probably go update my FAFSA though
