USC acceptance conditions

im a transfer student

so i get accepted a while back (yay) but im running into an issue now.
under my acceptance i have the following conditions i must meet

a 3.5 for the semester or USC may withdraw my acceptance.

currently im running border line on that GPA. if the upcoming final screws me, ill get a 3.34 GPA.

any ideas on if USC will reject me outright?
my overall GPA is a 3.88 with 50 units transferred.

ive already emailed a counselor at USC and i got the same advice that i can give myself of doing my best on the finals. easier said than done.

any run into the same situation before? any advice?

Please get a counselor so that you will have confidence going into the final . To find one you can contact the instructor for the class or the department or in which you have the class and ask for some names. It sounds like they want to make sure that you keep at or above this GPA they have stipulated in the letter. Study hard and good luck on your finals!

Sorry i meant to say tutor!

You have a 3.88 and are clearly a dedicated student. My bet is that, especially with a tutor, you can do this.

But what if you do end up with below a 3.5? If I were you, in the unlikely event that that happens, I’d immediately get in touch with USC and see if maybe you can retake a class over the summer, especially if Mt. Sac lets you replace a lower grade in a class with a higher one, or lets you average the two. Or could you enter USC on a conditional basis with a promise to receive a specific GPA, such as the 3.0 that is required of students who want to keep merit scholarships?

Finally, what would happen if you withdrew from one of your lowest grade courses at this point? Does USC require that you complete all the courses on your schedule for you to transfer in? If you would end up with a “W” on your transcript, would Mr. Sac or USC count it as an “F” for your GPA, or would your GPA remain untouched? If “W’s” are given out this close to finals, and neither Mt. Sac or USC would hold it against you in terms of your GPA or your transfer, this might be an option that would insure that you could transfer.

Good luck with this!

oh trust me im getting all the help i can, tutoring included haha.

@nester - unfortunately if i drop at this point ill just get a F lol
im just hoping i pull through these murky waters. shouldnt have ditched classes for naps… :(

i had the exact same situation!

like literally haha i had 3.84ish transfer gpa and i ended up with a 3.3, but i had the 3.5 condition (i got accepted long after my classes ended)

i think as long as you didn’t get a c in any prereq classes, you should be fine. my counselor said they evaluate those cases individually and decide if your decision should stand. keep your eye on your email, b/c i just got one from my counselor that said, after reviewing my app again, they decided to let their decision stand :)

andd send in your transcripts ASAP if you havent. you’ll get that email faster and feel 1000% relieved i promise :D

good luck!

This is very good news sclove09 !

@scloves & bbgg - yes that is very good news. the class im taking that may shoot me under a 3.5 is a math class, and i think it is a major pre-req…cuz i need atleast 1 math class for psychology :(

hopefully my final grades come out soon :(
