hey guys quick question about USC transfer

if i have a 3.54 GPA i attend Santa Monica college....what are my chances being accepted into SC ...thanks ...

legacy: dad and his brother [ not sure if this really matters ] i had a about a d average in high school....

im in the same boat with upward grade trend
where else are you applying?

not really... i should be though but on top of the SC ge's im doing something called IGETC....

i had a bad start getting 2 C's planning to retake ....

ur so special... im doing igetc too .....

p.s. what major are u

iuno yet undecided...

I don't think retaking C grades are gonna do anything for your GPA. Did you petition to retake those classes? Also what is your major?

im thinking history and ..marshal

Just make sure you complete either of their prereqs.

to answer your questions (as someone who was admitted to USC from SMC [not in scholars program!] with a 3.45/3.54 GPA), if you retake a class, USC does not do the "replace" grade system that the UCs do-instead, they average the two classes to get a grade (i.e., if you get a C first time and an A the second, you'll have a B.)

also, marshall is super-hard to be admitted directly, and while USC does look at the WHOLE candidate and take a holistic approach to the admissions system, based on looking at your info you provided, it would be in your best interests to do history and then potentially transfer into marshall once you've been admitted. when i applied i was a french major, and i was admitted, but had a change of heart and changed my major (again.) to theatre (i previously was a jazz/contemporary vocal major before that) so if you really want to do marshall, it may be better for you to do a "backdoor" into marshall than try to be directly admitted based on your info. not saying that you wouldn't be directly admitted to marshall, but there were 4.0s this year that were rejected from marshall/annenberg.

im also curious about some sort of program where u can go from undergrad to graduate program for pre dental...if that makes sense..

like a program to transfer directly to dental..

anyone know the maximum amount of units USC allows i read it was 64 but can anyone confirm this ?....

yeah it's 64. they still accept classes you took to fulfill requirements you just dont get any credits for them.

so for example, if you have finished macro and micro economics with 68 units. you'll get those two fulfillments so you dont have to retake them at USC, but you'll still be capped at 64 units...

Yes, it is 64 units. I took 68 units and when they gave me my transfer credit report there was a notation that only 64 units would be accepted.
