USC Accounting vs UCSB Econ & Accounting? Please help

So about 4 months ago I was accepted to USC for accounting from UCSB. I will be a sophomore and I am enrolled in both schools so that I have more time to decide whether to go to SC or stay at ucsb. I looked at my transfer credit report from USC and found out that they will not be accepting my AP credits (I scored 3’s) and some of the classes that I took will not be transferring. Overall I am losing about 22-semester units due to the transfer. I’m on track to graduate UCSB a year early but at USC, I will have to take one or two summer school classes in order to graduate on time.

I was interested in going to USC until I found out that I am losing all those units. Many people tell me that the Trojan alumni network and the connections that I will make there justify the loss of units but I am planning to go to law school so I don’t think undergrad matters that much in my case.

I really would appreciate your opinion on this issue. I’ve been trying to decide for so long now and I really don’t want to make the wrong decision.

@cooljon525 Hi! UCSB grad here who transferred to UCSB from USC, and my husband did his undergrad at UCSB and his MBA at USC. I thought I’d speak just to your comment about the Trojan Network. Yes, USC has a strong network and my husband had a great MBA experience, however we’ve both found that UCSB has a surprisingly strong alumni network (especially in CA), and has had a bigger impact than our Trojan network. I’m sure you have a lot to think about, and perhaps you’re not happy at UCSB and looking for a change. I just thought I’d speak to the career network as I haven’t noticed one to be any stronger than the other. Best of luck to you!

I went to grad school at USC for industrial engineering, so can’t talk specifically about accounting. I’ve never made use of the Trojan Network, and my impression has always been that it’s over-emphasized. I wouldn’t transfer just to get access to the Trojan Network.

One of the goals for an accounting major is to get in to the Big Three upon graduation. Both ucsb and USC are recruited by all major firms. It depends on which school you can get a higher Gpa you have a better chance to be hired. If you are doing well at ucsb don’t transfer. CPA firms will careless which school you graduated from.
