USC Admissions

I want to go into the USC Primary Care Physician Assistant Program and trying to plan ahead. I'm in my first year of my undergraduate program at UCI. My most recent quarter, I only took 12 units and made one of my classes a pass/no pass and ended up not passing it due to a few personal reasons. The class is not needed for my major or for USC. Should I retake the class? If I do, it will have to be as a pass/no pass again and it will come up as me taking only 8 units this past quarter (because my grade for the class will only show up for the second time I took it). Is it a big deal if I leave it as a NP, especially if the class doesn't count towards anything except for a GE? Or should I re-take it? (Obviously, it hasn't affected my GPA).
Also, can anyone give me that STATS for acceptance rates, GPA's, hours, and all that jazz?

This is my number one choice for PA school and would really appreciate any feedback.

They will just ask you about that class in particular, and you will have a chance to explain it. The USC PA program averages at least a 3.4 GPA on its interviewees, only when you have as much clinical hours as the rest of the application pool. Most people who go into the PA program were EMT’s , ER Techs’, Paramedics, LVN’s, or RN’s, so the average clinical hours is absurd ( I think it is like 2,000?) The MCAT is a bit on the low side for its average.

Before you choose USC, you do know that its PA program is 3 years right? You might be better off going to a different PA program for 2 years, or if you are fine with 3, why not shoot for medical school? The price tag on USC’s PA school is extremely costly since it is 3 years, but anyways, there is always still a chance that you will reconsider your career options. Best of luck.

It is probably better to retake and receive a P, I thought NP may be factored in as “F” depending on how a school interprets it? You may want to call and ask about that as there are probably varying opinions on the internet?
