I came home and found a package from USC today.
I was offered admissions. i was also offered admissions to UCLA. my major is psychology but I'm going to be a premed student. :)

I don't know which school to choose! HELP!

stats

GPA: 3.77
IGETC:done
prereq both USC & UCLA: done
EC: started a club. joined 2 very active clubs. volunteered for FPAC. worked 20-34 hrs/week
USC essay: wrote about a friend who passed away. the transfer lady at EL CAMINO really liked this essay.
UCLA essay: wrote about my cat
no taps
W's: only one

My opinion is go to UCLA. I like USC but really when it comes down to the truth UCLA is basically better but not when it comes to undergraduate business and cinema. Both schools are great but UCLA has the better atmosphere, ranking, and is cheaper on the wallet.

this is the UC forums
no USC here
GO BEARS!!!
at least Cal and UCLA have something in common…
we don’t like the red!!! (cal/stanford, ucla/usc) <–just in case, lol
hahahaha

Have you ever visited USC? If not, I highly suggest that you do. They have one of the best programs for my major (Communication Studies) but I really disliked the campus and the vibe that I got from both the administration and students. You really should visit both campuses before deciding.

i visited usc and i thought it was alright
then i went to cal and it definitely made me realize that cal is better imo
usc seems kinda stuck up
but thats just me

Durian-I had the same exact experience. I also didn’t get the impression that transfer students are a priority. The response I received from an admissions officer after asking her about pre-reqs went something like this, “It’s all in the pamphlet. They are there, but not really necessary. Just apply and see what happens.” Uh, ok. Thanks for…nothing.

Yea true, I never got a very elite feel visiting USC, the campus honestly looks like crap. My community college looks better FFS. Cal on the other hand looks MUCH better and actually makes you feel like you’re attending a good school.

I <3 Cougars-Exactly. Every presentation that I have attended at UCLA makes me feel so good afterward. At the TAP conference last Fall, I remember a speaker getting up on stage and saying, “UCLA wants you here. Don’t ever doubt that.” I always get the impression that transfer students are really supported and well respected there. I get the same impression from Cal with the various programs that they offer, including TAP and resources for students over 25.

I honestly walked away from USC thinking, they don’t have a rat’s a** about us here. Maybe I went on a bad day, but I was really turned off by the whole vibe there.

JetForce-I totally understand that. I get asked the same 5 questions over and over and over at my job in the transfer center at my CCC, but you know what? It’s a part of the job. I also know most of the information about transferring (because of my job in the TC) but I had a specific question for the admissions counselor and was given the cold shoulder. I just didn’t like the attitude, and paired with the overall vibe of the school, I was done before I even began.

Stacy-Don’t let this influence your decision. It’s really important that you go and see for yourself. I know someone that really disliked Cal, but it’s paradise to me. It’s all relative. Good luck.

i’ve been to usc when i was in the 8th grade. i remembered it to be nice. lol. seems like im due for a visit for both. i think im going towards UCLA for now. even tho it further from my house. hopefully i dont get the bad vibes some of you guys got.

thanks for telling me this is a UC forum. i posted because i wanted a UC opinion on which school i should go to. the post deals with UCLA too. so it isnt totally off topic. i guess i should have titled the post differently.
