Could someone please explain the USC appeal process for me? I'm a bit confused. Thank you very much.

Appeals for admission must contain new information that was not present on your original app. I’m out of town now and able to write much now but will tomorrow. Search this site for past threads. There is some great info there. It would help if you could tell me specifically what parts you need clarification on

I do have some new information, but I’m mostly reiterating on my most notable accomplishment. USC says to write one page. Can this be single-spaced?

If anyone would like to read my appeal letter and offer feedback I would really appreciate it.

Your essay should be one page single spaced. Include a cover letter which has your full name, USC id number, current address, telephone number, email address.
Do not repeat what is already in your original app. They will use your original app as well.
Some suggestions: make sure your essay sheds like on who you are. Don’t just list your accomplishments, get some letters of recommendation(different from those already submitted) and include them with your appeal. Include any recent awards. good luck!

Thank you, however USC specifically states that they don’t wish to receive any letters of recommendation with the appeal. But I’m so relieved it can be single-spaced.

My son included letters of rec when he appealed successfully two years ago. The letters must support your essay

Oh wow, maybe I’ll talk to my teachers then. Was your son admitted for the fall semester? Did he appeal as a freshman?

He appealed his rejection and got a spring admitt

Should our appeal be an essay format or can it be written as a letter of appeal following a business letter format?

bbgg, could I possibly see your son’s letter? I’m not really sure how to format my appeal. Right now, it’s very matter-of-fact and business-like.

PM and I’ll forward it to you

@bbgg

Do you think you can forward me your son’s letter? Right now mine’s a business style format and I think it would really help to see how a successful appeal was crafted.

Don’t forget to commit to a college you have already been accepted and want to go to before the commitment date. You will not hear back from your appeal until well after that date.

@bbgg

I would appreciate a PM of that letter also

Please PM me and I will send you a copy.

Called a counselor who I met while visiting USC last year and they said they STRONGLY discourage including any other letters of recommendations in the appeal

That’s reassuring. I don’t want to bother my teachers on such short notice.

I’m sort of happy that they don’t want us to include letters of rec but I wanted to include one too haha.

I don’t want to intrude on the thread, but for appeals it states that USC musr have the appeals packet by April 11th but I am confused as to whether it means they want it postedmarked by the 11th or if they need it in hand by the 11th. I’m asking because I will not be able to send the packet until next Sunday at the earliest, the 10th, so I’m not sure if they will accept it.
