i wish people from last year can post us their stats; so we can get a better idea.

whatever, its over. it doesnt matter anymore, all you can do now is just pray to god that they choose the best candidates

hey guys, i applied for the program. I chose the CNN medical correspondent essay...it seemed more fun than the other ;)

Anyways, I'm applying to a few other med programs as well (Brown PLME--which I got deferred from :( , Northwestern HPME, GW BA/MD, BU BA/MD, and Vandy's...good luck to all those who apply since these are so tough to get into--which is one reason i'm applying to so many of them to increase my chances of getting into at least one ;). Btw, is it true that usc's program favor's Cali kids...b/c i guess i'm screwed then since i'm from south carolina :(

anyways, here were my stats (copied from an old chances thread)

I thought my essays were decent, although i don't think i spent much time on the short answers...but oh well. GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE APPLYING!

....you've got nice stats

Shobit, yeah you do...that 500 hrs volunteering and that 35 ACT will stand out

does USC really favor cali kids that much? i was hoping the fact that i'm from virginia would help a bit =/

yah they do favor cali kids
ratio of instate to outstate is 2: 1

What's the ratio of instate vs outstate applicants?

well the reason that there are more instate is because pretty much everybody in cali applies to usc and stanford....

plus there are so few med programs in california. only 2 - ucsd and usc

hm I guess that does make sense. Does anyone know about how many ppl apply and are accepted each year? Also, does anyone know if we have to go to California for the interviews?

im pretty sure you have to fly down to california. dont worry you will like it- nice weather

shobit, about 700 people apply and 100ish people get the interview... i think they pick about 30 from the interview pool.

usc doesn't favor cali kids, its just that a large percentage of the applicants are from california, thus more admits will be from cali.

im from cali too, btw.

does anybody know if Bacc/MD looks at (or asks for) mid-year reports? i think people in the program might know...

do these 30 students take the same class and stay in med school dorms?

no, theyre pretty much regular students
