*******USC Class of 2020 Results/Discussion Thread**********

@sdwyer98 I know what u mean
Im in the same boat
Dream school but I cant afford it

My mail usually comes around 2

I would wait to see your financial aid packet before assuming you can’t go. USC, like a lot of top private schools, give out huge need-based grants.

@blueskies2day its my personal choice to post all my thoughts publicly or not. in general, i have issues with a very the culture being very exclusive and not very multicultural. The greek system dominates a lot of life on campus. Quality of life is pretty poor, food at dining halls is unedible sometimes, the gym is so small its usually unusuable, the dorms are mostly run down and old with no AC. Academics has a whole different set of issues, but it depends which academic program.

Yeah but the situation Im in, the financial package will probably be full of loans
But I agree @mjstewart1224 I will try to remain positive :slight_smile:

I’m in NC - same boat as you guys; USC (Cinematic Arts) has been my dream school since age 13, need a full ride to afford it. Gonna watch that mailbox all week haha.
Anyone know the SAT scores of past scholarship recipients? I know it’s over 2100 (top 2%) but would any score over that give you equal chance or does a 2300+ improve it dramatically?

@pennh10 no. Not dramatically. You will have a ledge over students, but its a holistic review, so one test score won’t make you stand out over other students. What has students stand out is their ECs usually.

@mjstewart1224 Thanks for the encouragement, but I’m not necessarily considered a student with “significant financial need.” My EFC is ridiculous. My parents’ income is pretty significant, but because I have had many medical problems over the past five years, our savings is wiped clean. Of course, the federal government doesn’t take that into account. Maybe USC will, I hope they do, but I don’t qualify for any other grants. If I can get a partial scholarship I may be able to contest USC for more financial aid my explaining my situation.

@sdwyer98 I hope they can help you out if you don’t get a scholarship. No one should be kept from their dream school because of money!

I swear to god, this whole process has been the only time I’ve been really thankful to be broke. If I made just a little more money, (I’m considered an independent) I wouldn’t qualify for all the waivers, and there would be no way I could even have afforded the application process.

@mjstewart1224 Thank you! I appreciate it. Hopefully my essay was a good enough sob story. I have a lot of weird circumstances that make it impossible for my parents to afford USC… But honestly, I hope everyone here can get in. Y’all are all so nice!

My daughters friend in Los Angeles just got her mail. No envelope.

I have friends in SoCal; none of them received anything.

I hope someone receives theirs and posts on here soon!!!

I just got my acceptance letter! I live in Los Angeles so it came pretty quickly. It didn’t have any information about scholarships though, just acceptance. Since I got accepted early does that mean that I am in the running for a merit scholarship? And if so, when does the notification for that come?

@celegood oh my gosh, congratulations!!

@celegood acceptance + no scholarship usually means Deans. Either way, congrats!!
What color is the package? Is ur portal updated?

@celegood I think that may mean you received the Dean’s scholarship!!! Congrats

Same tbh. No scholarship= I can’t go. @sdwyer98

What’s everyone’s financial aid tab look like in the portal?

@chukrook How does your tab look like?
