*******USC Class of 2020 Results/Discussion Thread**********

Did anyone receive a financial aid postcard from USC yesterday (FAFSA / CSS reminder)?

I did @gphati

@Murmurs well I have a 2380 and a 3.8 (4.35 W) . Are you Viterbi? Where do u guys think that puts me? I have to wait till Monday ugh

@gphati I did, but I got it today.

Hi, do they all come out today or are they sending them out in intervals?

All went out yesterday, just depends on mail time.

There are 250 Deans.

Well, I’m in Louisiana so I’m just gonna sit and wait patiently because it’s not getting here anytime soon…

Did any of you guys apply to USC’s SCA? And also, have there ever been students whose first choice was SCA (particularly Film & TV) who got in in January/with a merit scholarship?

It seems that everyone who posted stats here have 2380+ on SAT. Anyone with lower scores got in today?

@blourring I applied to SCA!! It’s my absolute top choice so fingers crossed! I saw on last year’s forum one girl got into SCA in January with merit consideration, but it seems rare… Does anyone know how many merit scholarships are allocated to SCA? And how heavily would they weigh academics vs. portfolio vs. essays? I have a 2390 and a 4.0 uw but with SCA’s acceptance rates, my chances seem low

Anyone an architecture major? I feel like we’re rare…

@blourring @maytheforce I applied to Production at SCA with a 2310 and 3.6 UW. When I toured last April they said SCA’s production major gives 4-5 full rides a year (Mork, Trustee, or Stamps), and another 4-5 half tuition scholarships (presidential, deans etc). They emphasized the creative portfolio & essays, but I got the impression scores & grades get you into the university, and once you’re in, SCA narrows it down based on creative materials. SCA often goes back & forth with the university for scholarship consideration but the higher your grades the better your chances. Hope we all meet in LA in for interviews haha.
What do your portfolios look like? Essay topics?

Also, I talked to a girl who got a Trustees scholarship to SCA back in 2011. She said her scores and portfolio were unexceptional but she wrote essays about being story-oriented. Sounds like a drive for storytelling is a major key

Trustee’s finalist! Was in a white paper box, scholarship info was on a separate paper at the very bottom and I also got a brochure labeled “Explore USC/Trustee’s Finalist”. No update to my application portal/email/any other indicator.

Good luck to those still waiting

@pennh10 Thanks for the info! I mean that’s not a lot of spots but considering the class size of like 50, that’s not bad. I was really proud of the film I submitted. It was a kind of Pulp Fiction-esque crime short. Some of the shots are kinda wobbly because I was trying to film dialogue in a car while having my teaching my friend/actress how to drive lmao. But hoping they’ll overlook that.

I wasn’t really sure what they were looking for in the personal statement but I talked about my experience in politics and wanting to make a difference through film.

In retrospect, my Why USC essay was weirdly weak which makes me cringe because it’s absolutely my first choice but I felt like I didn’t really convey that properly in the essay :expressionless:

What about you guys?

I got the Trustee’s finalist interview! There were no changes to my applicant portal.

@cymotrichous Congrats!! Did you use my USPS and not get indication?

@cymotrichous Oh my gosh, congratulations!!! Do you live in socal?

Did any NMSF got notifications today? Also anyone from engineering?

@Dinka7 the half-tuition scholarship for NMSF is separate from the scholarships going out now, so you will not find out early.
