@shaneli1020 I’m hoping for Dean’s too. My stats are a bit lower than the average, which makes me sad I also can’t go to USC if I don’t get any financial aid/scholarships :’( Good luck
So the adcom who visited my high school said that USC doesn’t really care about SAT Subject Tests in admissions and scholarships…is this true? Would it hurt me if i only sent my ACT score, scholarship and admissions-wise?
@dorfdude8, it is true that USC says they are optional so it may seem like they don’t care, but in certain competitive majors, particularly engineering, those subject tests (math and science subjects) can be the differentiation between two similar individuals. I would never say it hurts someone, but it may help a little bit. I do not think they would every sway a scholarship decision however. Either way, you put your best forward now just have to see what happens. Good luck!
I know this is such a hard time for many, but packages should arrive everywhere in the country by Wednesday. I really believe most will get there Mon/Tues. Even though delivery is closed, the post office is still driving trucks and flying planes on Sundays.
@CADREAMIN Thank you for the info!! Yes, it’s a really hard time. I’ve never wanted the weekend to end, but today I do! I have a question about the scholarships. If my SAT is slightly lower than the average, and my gpa is pretty good, and my ec’s are really good, do I have a shot at getting the bigger scholarships? My preferred major is Environmental Science and Health (idk if that’s a commonly chosen one or not). I know there’s nothing I can do now, but I can’t stop thinking about it! Thank you for your help!!
@chailatte25 I feel like I’m in the same boat as you. All I can say is that we can hope for the best and that the holistic review comes to our advantage!
@chucknblair @chailatte25 On some of the stats only discussions from last year’s classes, the vast majority of scholarship nominees had near-perfect SAT scores and amazing ECs, but I remember seeing one from Viterbi who had an SAT of 2140 and was still being considered for Trustee’s. Anything could happen.
I really hope the review was holistic. My SAT was a 2120, which I believe is still in the top 3-4%, but it’s far from perfect. Hopefully my ethnicity and geography will give me an edge. Good luck to you both!!!
This is really random, but it will get our minds off of waiting.
When you log onto YouSC, what image comes up behind the options sidebar? For me, it’s the Engineering Quad.
Maybe the image has to do with the school you applied to? My major was CS.
Yeah, mine is the engineering quad and I applied to Annenberg so I think it’s just generic
Anybody out here on the East Coast have estimates on how long the letters will take? Here in Maryland we’re sitting in 3 feet of snow… Would the letters even come this week?
I’m in Richmond and got 17.5 inches and our mail is apparently coming tomorrow, but you have a lot more so your situation is probably different.
Lol I’m in boston so it’ll be a while
While we wait… I wanted to reply to those who resented the sports scholarships. One of the biggest draws to USC for me is the rich history of athletic tradition. I can’t wait to go to the Coliseum, kick the flagpole, watch the band march in and see our Trojans play. These traditions are one of the things that make college life so memorable. I pity those who spend these great years ensconced in the library. Besides, the scholarship money comes from the athletic department anyway and you aren’t being deprived of a scholarship because that running back got a full ride. Fight on for ol’ SC!
@shaneli1020 did you get anything else today?
@shaneli1020 did you get anything else today?
Seems some people in beijing received their packages this morning (in my time zone). But more importantly, mine hasn’t come yet
Do international students qualify for merit?
I am so extremely nervous/terrified/excited!
Yes, I know one of the them is chosen to interview for the half-tuition scholarship.
Why do we have to go to school? Why can’t we just stay at home all day and wait for a letter? oh wait, because then USC would never accept us…
