Consider possible storm delays

Wow, says only 2 days from SoCal to SoFlo

Will we receive a letter letting us know that we are no longer being considered for a merit scholarship?

@GunEpping yes

Thank you @mattyboy88

So if people from SoCal haven’t received anything by now, did they not make it?

When do you think someone from Miami would receive a packet if any?

@philargyrist From what I understand, everyone will get a letter, if not a package? Either the package says you’re in and are invited to interview for a scholarship, or the letter will say you did not receive a scholarship but are still under review for admission. I think we just have to wait it out, unfortunately :frowning: The mail service can be slow sometimes…

@guppy659 What happens is everyone that ges a package this next week gets a scholarship. If there is no scholarship letter, they get dean’s. if there is a letter, it will specify president or trustee. Everyone else will get a letter saying no scholarship, and that they are still considered for admission.

USC’s zip code is 90089.

does everyone who receive a scholarship invite have to have a really good gpa? or are other factors considered?

@bikkandy they do have high gpas, but it is a holistic review process, meaning that they have good test scores, essays, and extracurriculars as well.

I’m really confused about the whole letter/package process here. I applied to USC about 1.5 weeks before the December 1st scholarship deadline. Where do I go to track my package? When I click “check your application status” on my YouSC portal there’s no indication about scholarship consideration?

This is what it says:
"You can track the status of your application here. Check back periodically to see any new information that is requested. Please be aware that all final admission decisions are sent via postal mail. If you are using the Safari browser on a Mac computer or iPhone and experiencing problems viewing a message, please try an alternate browser such as Chrome.

We have received your Common Application and USC Supplement, and it appears we require no additional information at this time. We will be reviewing applications through the month of March, and we expect to be able to meet our commitment to notify freshmen by April 1st. We often like to see the mid-year grades of freshman applicants. If you have not already done so, please submit your final, fall term marks when they become available. Submit a Mid Year Report school form, or click “Mid-Year Grades” in youSC. Sometimes, in the course of our review of applications, we find that we need additional information. In such cases we will email a request. If you receive a request for more information, please respond promptly."

Did I do something wrong? Will I hear back from them this week? Thanks to anyone who can help me! (Sorry for being really confused)

Ok… I’m losing hope. Someone from school posted their acceptance letter yesterday on Facebook. If I don’t get anything tomorrow, I guess it’ll mean I’m pushed into the regular pool :frowning:

@123icecream I’m pretty sure USC hasn’t updated the portal. They usually don’t update that until after students have received their package/letter. That’s exactly what my portal says! Yes, you will hear from them this week. If you’re not offered a scholarship, then you’ll still be considered for admission, so it doesn’t mean you’re rejected. You didn’t do anything wrong, just wait a couple of days! Where you live is also a factor that determines when you get your package or letter.

I’m not sure about tracking packages, but some people said you can use MyUSPS…? That’s what I’ve heard, but I’m not sure.

@123icecream You did nothing wrong. There is no portal change. If you read this thread, all of your questions have been answered. There is no way to track your package. Just chill for 3 days and see what happens.

@123icecream I see the same thing on my portal. Just wait it out. If you get something in the mail this week, you’re in with some kind of (chance of a) scholarship. If not, you’ll receive a letter a few days after the scholarship people that says you didn’t get anything, but your app will be under review with the rest of the applicants.

@chailatte25 @mattyboy88 thank you both so much!!

@philargyrist I know the feeling… Guess we gotta just wait it out.
Was really hoping for Dean’s, even though my stats aren’t good enough. I can’t afford USC without any merit aid eep!

@philargyrist Don’t lose hope!! If you go to the USPS website thing where you can see how long it takes a package to get to your area, some places farther from LA receive it sooner than places closer to LA. Maybe the person from your school who got it gets mail quicker…? Also, remember that the mail is really weird! Just wait a couple of more days! Good luck!! :))
