USC Class of 2022

Here’s an email sent from Viterbi today to pass the time…

"I am pleased to share with you the news that the US News and World Report recent list of the top-10 graduate programs in engineering features the USC Viterbi School of Engineering. Please see the link 2019 Best Grad Schools Preview: Top Engineering Schools. Included in the top-10 list are the following:

Cal Tech, CMU, Georgia Tech, MIT, Purdue University, Stanford, University of California Berkeley, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, University of Michigan, USC, and University of Texas—Austin.

As you can also see, USC Viterbi is in the top-5 list of all private schools, along with MIT, Stanford, Caltech and CMU, clearly an elite company.

Equally importantly, USC Viterbi is the only engineering school in the US on two USNWR top-10 lists, namely the one above, as well as the list of the best On-Line Engineering Programs published in January, 2018, and where we were listed as the top program nationally.

Even though quoted widely, rankings of this type are to be interpreted with caution as a significant part of their methodology is based on reputational scores, while other parts emphasize size, thus favoring large state schools.

Nonetheless, it is gratifying to see USC Viterbi listed among the best. This is a testament to the quality of our faculty, students and staff, and of our educational and research programs. I hope that you share my pride for being associated with the school.

Thank you for your continuing support and Fight On!"

Did anyone watching the video on Instagram magnify it to look for their name? KIDDING.

I’m gonna get rejected anyways. If I got rejected by UCSD, UCLA, Boston College, Northeastern, and UC Davis, what chance do I have at a top university such as USC?.. My stats dropped all because of some technological error that could’ve prevented it, and because I got the flu during finals week (which my counselor elaborated on). I’m not sure whether my straight A senior semester helps either…

I live within the one day mark but I honestly don’t want to get my hopes up since it will just make a rejection letter all that worse. What happens happens. I still wish everyone else good luck though. All our fates have pretty much been sealed at this point.

Literally sealed if you look at the instagram video. Good luck @kosmonavt!

@CADREAMIN were all engineering applicants supposed to get this email?

I have a USC engineer, that is why I got the email, nothing to do with applicants. Sorry for the scare!

@CADREAMIN Grrrrrr…Just kidding. IT was cool of you to clear that up quickly.

I live in the 1-Day area for mailing and live about an hour away from USC. Is it possible that I can get mail from them on the 22nd or should I just expect to come on the 23rd?

@student00226 probably the 23rd.

The portals will be updated at around noon Pacific Time on the 25th.

This is a according to a reply by the USC Admissions twitter to a question.

Check after midnight.

in the uscadmissions instagram, they commented that rejections and acceptances will be mailed on the same day. do you think if I had informed delivery on, and they used first class to mail the rejections and I get notified then I’ll know whether I get accepted or not?

@hafamama thank you!

I wonder if us locals will get the decision in the mail by Friday…

@introtoxx Informed delivery has to be turned on by the sender, and USC doesn’t turn on informed delivery. There’s no way to know ahead of time whether we got rejected or accepted…

Also, prwtty sure the rejection letter isnt priority, so it comes after the portal update.

I’m just so worried… Don’t know how to cope with not getting in…

@jj1999 just don’t stress about it too much. Whatever happens happens, and stressing over it can’t change anything at this point. I mean, we are all anxious, but I’m sure we can all get through it together!

You actually may be able to see the letter (BUT NOT THE ACCEPTANCE PACKAGE). Hoping USC found a way working with the post office to keep those from showing up as well, but we will see. Last year informed digest was just starting out. But the letter moves a bit slower since it is first class, except Socal people do tend to get both the letters and packages first day as well. Referring to close to LA, San Diego may or may not get day 1. Seems a lot get day 2 there.
