I live in Glendale, CA (about 30 min from USC) and nothing in the mail today I go to school in Sherman Oaks, CA and a friend received her packet today. Anxiously waiting for tomorrow!! Ugh
@badatusernamess Yes, according to the USPS map, anything south of San Clemente takes an extra day. So tomorrow.
For those asking about what being admitted in spring means, you can get more info at SC’s website: https://admission.usc.edu/firstyear/admittedspring/springadmits.html
Being admitted in spring is a great opportunity that provides more choices.
Anybody can post stats and there is a stat page up for class of 2022, the point is being made about stats not to discourage their posting but rather to not disparage the spring admits or TTP as second class acceptances. It’s a big day for everyone accepted in any form! Also, a lot of people do mix up USC and UCs in terms of the importance of stats so it is good to clarify that to the many people that use the forum. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to put in the time and contribute anything they would like here.
I just got accepted!! Checked the mail around 10 minutes ago and got the acceptance packet there! Low key started crying too I live in Orange County so that’s probably why it got to my house so fast.
@caleegalee I am a National Merit Scholar, put USC as my first choice, and there is nothing in there about the scholarship, so I’m assuming that will come later.
Stats:
1500 SAT (720 W, 740 M, 7-8-8 essay)
GPA 4.0 unweighted, 4.81 weighted (honestly not sure how USC weights classes for admission though)
Class Rank: 7 out of 650
Really, really strong extracurriculars (student body president, student member on board of education, ran a district-wide coin drive and raised $20,000 for Make-A-Wish, Model United Nations president, etc.)
I just looked at my essays again and they were actually quite good.
Full IB Diploma. No AP tests though.
I’m assuming my letters of rec were pretty good lol
Major: International Relations
Fight on!
Spring admit stats do not count in what schools report for entering class. That is a way to manipulate those incoming Freshman stats.
Congrats on the acceptance and 1/2 tuition @jackmack001!
I live in SoCal 1 day zone. My Informed delivery said we were expecting 3 mails today, and “there is a mailpiece for which we do not currently have an image that is included in Today’s mail”. Mailman just came with 2 mails, and nothing from USC. Does this mean anything at all? Or it’s my rejection letter on the way? I am so scared.
@jcwjnw99. Yes 1 got into UCLA and 1 got into USC. They both applied to UCLA, 1 got rejected. Only 1 applied to USC.
Did anyone get anything in the beverly hills/west hollywood area?? Would they definitely arrive today?
@Twinmomhell You will need that “house divided” bumper sticker.
Agree with @CADREAMIN … there is no reason to get hung up on or to try and compare stats, whether regarding an admitted or rejected applicant. USC is in an extremely difficult situation where they are being compelled to reject tens of thousands of well-qualified applicants. Many of them will also have better pure stats related to GPA and test scores than many who were in fact admitted.
But it is not at all relevant. USC and the individual Schools within it are comparing you to each other & also comparing you to those applying for specific majors. And those evaluations consider many factors beyond just stats… they are looking at your ECs, leadership roles, essays, community involvement, demographics, geography, potential artistic, creative or athletic skills, potential special circumstances (URM? QuestBridge? FirstGen? etc), etc., etc.
Let’s face it… these #s are brutal. 87% or a whopping 55K+ applicants will face rejection. But unless you mistakenly sent your “Why Stanford?” essay to USC, most of it is simply beyond your control once you submit your application. This is a highly subjective process and there is simply no way to just pinpoint why one applicant was accepted while another was passed-over. Rejection is difficult, but it will serve no one well to try and go back and compare… especially regarding something like stats – that may have only been one of 20+ factors under evaluation.
I’m so sad my mailman came and there was nothing from usc. Anyone get anything in the beverly hills/west hollywood area?? Would they definitely arrive today?
@WWWard and @CADREAMIN I really want you guys to meet up one day hhaha you are like the protectors of us applicants
NMFs that are just getting accepted now will get something soon re their 1/2 tuition, Don’t forget to select USC as #1 choice with NMSF by May 1st, so you are good for the 1/2 tuition! Info comes separately, not with the admission package.
Anyone in LA got something? At this point, I’m like whatevs.
@CADREAMIN thanks. i already selected usc as #1. do usc get that info now or not till may 1st?
@mangomermaid123 I’m pretty close to Westwood/Bev Hills and nothing came so it’ll for sure be here tomorrow (unless your mail is delivered later in the day). Good luck!
@caliboundplz2022 As we both have freshman daughters at USC now, I am sure it will occur eventually
@ep18 doesnt that mean we were rejected?? We should’ve gotten them today if we were accepted
