if i haven’t gotten anything in the mail and i live in socal does that mean i didn’t get in?

Is Spring admit something that the applicant requests or is it assigned by USC? I’ve never heard that before?

Does anyone know when scholarship finalists get notification? Thanks!

Spring is assigned, not requested. It is for students with stats, but majors/schools that are technically full. There is a large amount of students that study abroad so space opens up for them in housing and programs in the spring.

@3boysssm We heard today, I would be checking portals at end of day, like 4-5pm PST. Like all schools they tend to post when phones are turned off. It may not be till Monday, but hope not.

Do they inform you if a package is coming?

No.

Thanks for the info. Interesting thing from the letter “Spring admission is USC’s way of managing the size of the entering class. Some institutions go this by asking students to remain an uncertain, wait-list status; we instead offer select students the opportunity to begin their USC studies in January—just one fifteen-week semester later—when we can typically accommodate more students.”

Do spring admits stats “count” against fall acceptance rates? I know a student who got into BU with less than stellar stats but was pushed to spring. My theory is they really liked her story, ECs, etc. but she had less than 25% range stats in GPA and ACT score and the college didn’t want her acceptance to adversely effect their averages? Your thoughts?

Any Thornton admits yet?

Didn’t get a package. Legacy broken ??

Any SDA admits yet?

Spring and summer or pathways are ways to manage a low acceptance rate and high stats

FWIW, I got spring with 1590 SAT, 4.79 GPA, 3x 800 SATII, 8x 5 AP, NMF

@socaldad2002 Spring admit stats don’t count against the fall admit stats. I personally believe it is USC’s way of accepting some slightly lower stats students who they really like and feel will be a strong fit. USC says it’s not a stats thing, but I can’t ever see them saying otherwise if it was. Just like a waitlist is kids that a school would want, USC spring admits ARE admitted, but since they don’t count, it seems to give them a little leeway. That said, USC doesn’t seem to care about stats as much for the arts/talent programs, so who knows. I do like that they don’t have a wait list and do it this way, because then you know it’s not like schools that waitlist thousands just to give them a lower acceptance rate.
