@collegemom111111 Deans get the box too but the letter inside doesn’t specify the scholarship, indicating it is Deans. No interview for Deans but they are in with it! Maybe they will make Deans more clear this year.
Are the interviews online or on campus this year?
How does 975 finalists for Trustees and Presidential compare with last year? Is it more, less, the same?
any more from southern california? Here in Ventura County and nothing. I am not surprised but would love to hear if any others get a box in LA country or Ventura county
Still odd not more posts. There are a lot of kids in LA area statistically speaking, that get these boxes.
I’m just popping in to offer encouragement/sympathy for the long wait to applicants and especially to parents. It’s great to see @CADREAMIN and @WWWard doing amazing work with info and assurances. I believe I have PTSD from the waiting for USC merit and reg decisions for my 2 sons, who long ago applied, were admitted, and are doing amazing after graduating from USC SCA and one double major w/SDA. One of mine interviewed for Trustee and got it. One was not invited to interview but was awarded two departmental merit awards after March admissions arrived. Our family found USC FA was really fair, but some do not find it so. It means more waiting, even after admissions decisions, so please stay calm, eat chocolate, and expect this phase to go on way too long for comfort. I hope for everyone a great outcome, whether that means USC or some other terrific school on your list.
Hi everyone. I’ve been doing some detective work via USPS informed delivery and on Jan 24 1:06 AM Central Time (Jan 23 California time) a shipping label was created in Inglewood, CA. According to google maps (I have no personalized concept of where this place is bc I live in Indiana yikes), Inglewood, CA is a measly 9 miles from USC? I’d like to highlight here that I am NOT expecting a package by any means whatsoever, but am wondering whether or not this has happened in the past to any recipients and/or may just be a fluke/rejection letter (although I saw earlier on this thread that they don’t mail these)/other promotional information/not related to USC at all. Any information good or bad is welcome! USPS denotes it’s a package and being shipped 1st class. I cannot see the package itself, and the app doesn’t mention a package actually shipping, just the creation of the label.
socal here. No package for myself or anyone from my school. In total about 6 people applied by the dec 1st deadline, so it’s a bit surprising. Who knows?!? Hoping for a package still
@emwear Where on informed delivery can you see the creation of labels? I just show mail pieces and packages.
@emwear
Nice detective work.
So, how do you check that?
It reveals that the mystery package is in “pre-shipment” when I click the “packages” tab. @collegemom111111
People, I think tomorrow is the day, not sure about the one and only one box reported, it just doesn’t make sense that this is it at 4:30pm. In previous years, reports of boxes have started as early as 10am to 1:30pm then floodgates open. Sorry to say, this is all a bit suspect. Could be they mailed late and one squeaked through, but in 10 years, this has never happened. They first ones all drop together.
I would wait for first hand report with description of box and contents validated to start getting excited or disappointed. Try to stay even, like @madbean said, find chocolate! I agree, I think waiting for USC packages and one of my babies that came a week late were the most anxious times of my life. I feel ya. And sorry to say, most will have to go through this again in March. Hang on, it’s a bumpy ride.
Where on Naviance do I look to see how many kids applied to a specific school? We have the scattergrams, but I think that gives data from the past 3-5 years. (not sure how many)
Two people just posted they received package like 30 minutes ago. Both said they live in LA. Very reliable source.
Hi @CADREAMIN this is the weirdest. I have been on this group for ever and went through with my daughter. The story is true about the one box in Orange County. I don’t want to tell the high school the person goes too, but it is a real thing. I am HOPEFUL that one box squeaked through because honestly was hopiing (although I don’t think it will happen) that my child will still get one.
The USPS app! But I suppose the true checking will come with the portal because our weather is soooo bad that I doubt any mail will be on time (We’ve had 2 2-hour delays and one day off just this week alone :((( ) @jamgolf
do you think theres a chance that tomorrow is the day for OOS kids as well? or is it a longer wait
@Cheesecake19 Interviews always in person. Some may set up skype (internationals in particular) but whena school may be giving you $100,000 to $300,00+ you want to make the best effort to show your interest and conviction to USC by being there. Of course, for some it may be impossible to get there. Those should contact USC.
more specifically east coast/MD
@emwear Interesting. I’ve never seen anything other than “in transit”, “out for delivery”, or “delivered”. I do show a mail piece “for which we currently do not have an image”, but I’ve seen those before. However, I think I’m going to trust @CADREAMIN and believe that the acceptance boxes from USC never show up in informed delivery.
