USC class of 2023 Applicants Thread

DD got her white box today. Up for Presidential. We live in So Cal, about 100 miles away.

@hcmom65 I know it sounds totally legit, but gosh, where are the other posts?! All I can think is they went out late yesterday and it is a partial delivery, which is way too painful for these socal people! Maybe it is a Ninja mailman knowing the kids are going crazy and delivering the ones he can, lol. idk, this is not like any other time. Bound to be a wildcard year at some point, this seems to be it! Congrats to your friend!

ugh. 4:51 and the mailman hasnt even stopped by our house. Ouch :frowning:

Okay thanks! I think you may be right. This is v stressful @collegemom111111

They are rolling in now @CADREAMIN so I think they are out. Which means the portal will update tomorrow night very late (Late friday night or early Sat morning). I can only hope that maybe more boxes show up in SoCAL tomorrow.

Finally, We got it today
Orange county, California. 40 miles from USC.

I know the wait is killer, and I don’t believe you will see it on the USPS system
but even if they ever start showing up there, believe me, you don’t want to see it there. You want the mailbox moment. How anti-climactic being informed of something so spectacular through a postal app? Be strong, wait for the mail!

USC goes to all this trouble and puts people through all this pain and agony because the mailbox moment is spectacular for those lucky enough to have it in January and March. Otherwise a portal update would suffice.

@iamjen1 do you live in San Diego or north/east of LA? I haven’t heard anything from anyone in San Diego.

hello! i don’t mean to spam but does MD/DC metro area have a chance at getting boxes tomorrow?

Please post location in socal, like Irvine, Manahattan Beach, Anaheim, etc. so people get an idea where these things are dropping.

This has been exhausting and I don’t even have a horse in the race. I thought it would be today all along, but when it’s 4pm with only one post, I was throwing in the towel for today. Doesn’t matter how it plays out, the process is never easy! Maybe there are just less posters on CC this year, who knows? Usually they come on just to say they got it and join the club.

Honestly, hard to say if this is the real day one. If it is, then Norcal and many major metros will get it tomorrow (unless weather issues). Certainly everyone in socal will have their answer tomorrow.

If someone sees a post with a pic of package, please link to that.

Hope Norcal gets the packages tomorrow

I live in San Diego and have not heard of anyone getting a package here

anyone have an estimate for when the Seattle area / PNW would receive the packages?

so if today was the starting day, when will portals be updated?

Did I read correctly up thread that only 975 scholarship boxes were mailed this year? Wasn’t it like 1400 last year? The yield on scholarship recipients must have been too high?

San Diego has always been Day 2. Seattle tends to be third day. Always exceptions. Use starting zip of 90007 or 90089 (both USC).

yes would love to know if it was 975 only? alot lower than in previous years

@hcmom65 @Quantjock I believe the poster indicated the 975 was only Presidential and Trustees, and that doesn’t count Dean’s. I also believe it was 1200 last year, but I think that number DID include Dean’s. Someone, please correct me if I’m wrong on this.

I think he said just Pres and Trustee. Deans would be another chunk on top of that. General number they use in the “no scholarship” letter is 1200, checking to see if it was different last year, thought it was 1200 again.

ha we cross posted @collegemom111111 How you doing??? You are on this stuff!

My son got box today, Brea, SoCal. Congrats Letter and package for “Trustee scholarship finalist”
