ah, i’m so nervous. i know the likelihood of me receiving a package is extremely low, given my test scores, and my not-so-extraordinary activities, but gosh, i’m nervous.
@WWWard Thanks for the info. When my son was admitted in January 2017 he was so excited about the admission and scholarship offer that I don’t think any of us bothered to notice when the portal updated.
so it’s been confirmed that people who are not being considered for merit awards will not receive a letter in the mail? but only an update in the portal?
does anyone know if the font getting bigger means anything
@CLU MOM 2012, thank you for the reassurance! I guess just because there is no mention of the box on my Informed delivery there might still be a chance for tomorrow. Fingers crossed!
FOR THOSE WHO GET SCHOLARSHIP PACKAGE, PORTAL WILL UPDATE TO THIS:
Admission
Admission Decision
Enrollment Commitment Deposit
Withdraw Your Application
Submit Documents
Financial Aid
Apply for Financial Aid
Financial Aid Summary & Tasks (FAST) page
On-Campus Admitted Student Programs
Explore USC
Preview USC
Admitted Student Day
Campus tours
Off-Campus Admitted Student Programs
Apply for Housing
FOR THOSE THAT DO NOT GET SCHOLARSHIP
If admitted the very first screen changes, if not, a letter appears under “check your application status.” This letter will be in your portal under Admission Decision, and will appear as a “Current Message”:
@WWWard Is it likely that there are no more packages for SoCal students? Is there any chance that more packages will be received in SoCal tomorrow?
@barbpz you’re welcome. That way is of course much better. Getting the box after you already saw it online kind of defeats the whole mail box surprise moment. In fact, for those it happens to… they are already convinced that a rejection is on its way instead. So it just creates one to two extra days of angst / disappointment.
@gsak12 Of course. In fact, San Diego, for example, is always a day after the first announcements.
There will be more packages in socal tomorrow. The boxes are not on USPS informed delivery, don’t stress it or waste time there.
@sonsav RHP now follows same timeline as everyone else. Many of them used to be admitted n January, but now, unless they are trustee or president finalists, they won’t be admitted until March.
@SCMHAALUM Hello! Please let us know how it all works out!
I totally agree with @CADREAMIN. As I previously posted, when our son’s white box came in the mail, I checked everywhere and since nothing was posted or updated I assumed it was just more marketing materials. Turned out to be great news! KEEP THINKING GOOD THOUGHTS!!!
I’m also curious if the larger font means anything. Is everyone’s font larger?
My font did not get bigger (I think! It is very small)! So I don’t know whether to perceive that as a good or bad sign haha
@CADREAMIN thanks for the posting of the note. The difference this time is still that no deans (so the 1200 number is a lot less). I had never heard of any Deans scholarships is March - only January. Thank you
My font isn’t noticeably bigger, hopefully it’s a sign of good luck.
@CADREAMIN Thank you and @WWWard for all your advice and help on this thread! I got more help from you two than the USC counselors last year! Yes I will keep you posted! Audition/interview went well but we never know. Taking it easy this year
@hcmom65 I don’t think it will be much lower in total, but I guess for the letter… If the 975 number of biggies is correct then add 250 Deans (last year’s number) plus a few others here and there and you are at the 1200 number. But it does sound like the number offered this round is lower, I guess because they had more commit last year than they expected. I would guess the higher ranking/reputation is contributing to that.
I’m really sorry guys the larger font indicates that you will be receiving the rejection letter. I hate to be the deliverer of bad news.
^^^Ya, that’s a funny one.
Don’t obsess on the website, there will be things going on, but when it matters, you will know.
