Thank you so much! @WWWard @CADREAMIN
@01pabs youāre welcome
@WWWard Thanks for your comments about rejection and persistence. Very eloquent and encouraging.
regardless of an acceptance or a rejection, should we expect a package or letter or will they not send a letter if you have been rejected
āShe [President Wanda] did, however, share new statistics about USCās increasing prestige. She stated the current admission cycle will be āthe most selective in our history,ā with just 11 percent of a record nearly 67,000 applicants to be accepted to the incoming freshman class.ā
@PercussionMama Youāre welcome
@norcalbred Very interestingā¦ so not quite as low as 10% and not quite as high as 70K, as some rumors have indicated. But still records in both regards.
@dancegirl28 to Recap for the applicants waiting: the mail-out of admissions packages, sent via USPS Priority Mail, has been confirmed by USC as occurring on March 21st, with portal updates for all applicants on March 23rd at 5pm Pacific. You can project your likely delivery window via the following linkā¦ https://www.usps.com/priority-mail/map/ Simply use 90007 as the originating zip code. Be forewarned however that USPS is far from 100% reliable, and they do too often miss those delivery windows. The portal updates on the 24th will be the definitive answer. Rejection letters arrive via regular mail laterā¦ usually received after the portals update - unless you live close enough to USC. While you can of course try Informed Delivery via USPS, as it has worked for some, USC does not enable tracking and historically very few of those actually getting the admission packets were able to gain that same-day advanced notice. The vast majority who have had Informed Delivery, including my own family, were not able to see this particular type of package en route. But there is always a chance. Of course, this out-dated notification method which relies on the U.S. Postal Service is very āOld Schoolā and designed to provide an unique āMailbox Momentā for those admitted to USC. And it probably is so for 80%+ of all admitted applicants. But many also learn via the portal updates firstā¦ as was the case in 2017 for my younger daughter.
Best of luck to all those waiting for good news beginning with the packages roll-out on March 21stā¦
@NorCalBred these are exactly the stats they shared with us at Expkote, so I have been surprised by all the reports of 10% and 70k. Still, very shocking, and exciting, at the same time. Best of luck to everyone. Fight on!
When are Accepted Students Day(s)? I cannot find anything on the public pages of USCs website. Did a postcard go out this year? Or did they stop doing that?
@SoCalPops they are listed in the accepted students packet, but I havent seen them online. Let me see if my DD packet is here.

@WWWard and @CADREAMIN I am very confused! I keep seeing posts about Explore USC dates in April. As my family resides in Oklahoma, I was under the impression that the first dates to visit USC for admitted students are the orientation dates listed in June (to sign up for classes & explore USC). Again my son has not been admitted yet, we are waiting just like everyone else. Trying to keep airfare budget costs in mind!
@EggPlantCoffee Explore/Preview and Admitted are dates to see the campus before you commit to help in your decision. Some kids that apply have never been to USC and if manageable they use those choices to learn more about the school and programs before the big May 1 date. They are super fun, students make some of their first friends there and USC rolls out the red carpet at these events - great presentations, the band - the whole shebang. Orientation is where they go deeper and even sign up for their classes.
If you know USC is it, you donāt have to attend any of the April dates, just commit and come to orientation which is the most important of any of those and the one to do if you can only do one because of time or financial constraints.
From the insiderā¦Trustee/presidential scholarships decisions will be mailed out on the 22nd and all the other freshman scholarship awards will be mailed on the 26th. Financial aid should be released very soon after that.
I assume they mean emailed/portal updates on the 22nd for scholarship decisions as that is how they have been done previously in March???..but they are in charge.
Preview USC
Preview is formatted much like the Meet USC program. It is a 3.5 hour program that begins with an admission session with an admission counselor and student intern. Then students will participate in a campus tour that is followed by a session with the academic department to which youāve been admitted. Throughout the day, students will hear about housing, campus life, and the transition to USC.

Explore USC
Explore USC is the most extensive campus visit program. These are day-long sessions that provide you with a highly structured, in-depth look at USC. You will meet current s USC students, hear about their experiences, tour the campus and the surrounding neighborhood, receive detailed information about your course of study, learn about student life, meet professors, and dine in a residential dining hall. The admitted student may attend free of charge and guests are charged a fee per person.

Admitted Students Program
This is a great option for students and families hoping to visit USC on a weekend. This is an all-day event on April 27th. Registration begins in the morning and sessions will last until about 4:00pm. Arrive in the morning to attend all of the sessions that pertain to your questions! This open house provides students with the opportunity to tour the campus and surrounding neighborhood, meet faculty and staff from the various departments, and receive answers to all of your USC questions. This is also the only program where you have an opportunity to tour the Universityās residential facilities.
Please note:
The bus tour of the neighborhood is great for those not familiar with area, but can eat a lot of time depending on how many buses they have running. Before getting in behind everyone else, ask the student working there what the wait isā¦you can spend more than an hour between waiting and riding and the day is only 6 hours long, so lots to see. Spend your time wisely!
@s0meUSCkid95 Can you clarify āmailingā of scholarship decisions - does that mean posted 3/22?
Hey guys! Im really nervous bout this. I applied COE with a 1340 (crap ) and a 4 gpa with predicted IB grades of 40/41. Is it a lost hope?
Did anyone apply as a gerontology/human development and aging major or have any useful info? Apparently last year a girl applied as a gero major thinking that sheād get in because itās a major thatās least applied to, but didnāt get in so Iām not hopeful at all whatsoever lol.
This has been answered 6000 times in this thread. Learn how to go back a few pages.
@fsnake01 Iām not the expert and I know itās been disputed many times, but my DD received that Financial Aid email just before her acceptance in January. The same has been true for other schools where sheās been notified earlier of her acceptance or received a likely letter. Just saying!!
Good Luck to all!!
As a Recap for the applicants waiting:
USC has announced that nearly 67K applied this cycle and that the admit rate will be circa 11%. That equates to around 7,370 being admitted overall. Since 1,000 or so were admitted in January during the scholarship phase, another 6,370 or so will be admitted this week.
