Thank you so, so much @WWWard. Do we get a notification it’s been shipped/tracking number for USPS or no?
Did USC delete the video on their twitter stuffing boxes?
@lrg1122 you’re welcome. no… USC does not enable tracking.
@denverapp USC normally posts an image today to social networking sites showing either the packages or USPS trucks getting loaded, etc.
@denverapp They have the one a year ago but it cannot be linked. You have to scroll through a year of tweets. The cool thing about it is they do not hire it out. it is USC people putting those packages together. I envy the excitement over 6000 people will have in the next two days when that USC Cardinal and USC Gold package arrives at their home but I do not envy the anxiety of the 67000 applicants.
^^^ Indeed. Two distinctly different realities over the next three days… understandable elation for the 6300 or so who gain admission, but then also the unfortunate but inevitable disappointment for 89% of all applicants… a staggeringly high # of 59K or so who will not be hearing good news. Please just keep in mind though that neither decision truly defines you as an applicant. So many factors are in play… including where you live, the major being sought, your demographics, etc., etc. Best of luck to all those in the mix & waiting…
Man, as a scholarship finalist, I’m losing it. I just wanna know if I got it or not - the wait is killing me!
I went to the school tour and info session for engineering because that’s what I was interested in. I received many contacts from their engineering students which I didn’t respond. However, my counselor advised me to apply for arts and sciences for both 1st and 2nd choices, I think that’s due to my lacking in engineering ECs and lower stats. I have since wondered if that (showing interest in engineering but applied to arts and sciences) will kill my chances in admission. Well…
All that USC can go on - in your case specifically and in terms of all applicants - is the totality of an application packet. And its clearly not all about stats. While 4K+ applicants with 4.0 unweighted GPAs and test scores in the 99th percentile will likely again be among those not gaining admission, you will note by looking at recent freshmen profiles that not everyone admitted had stellar stats… so they do look at many different factors. It will likely come down to a composite and holistic analysis of your stats coupled with writing ability / essays, ECs, potential leadership roles, potential other unique qualifiers (URM, First Gen, geography, demographics, etc.) and importantly your Why USC? explanation/reasoning, etc. And yes… the sought after major can matter greatly too. And many do try to “game the system” a bit by choosing an easier path (in terms of major choices). If so though, such applicants likely need to come off as passionate and committed toward that School within USC… with well-researched reasoning as to why they are leaning in that direction or toward USC overall.
Good Luck…
@micc No engineering ECs and low stats would kill you chances for engineering for sure. So I think that was the better call. The stats needed for engineering and ECs are incredibly high. Acceptance rate has always been much lower for engineering than the school average. Engineering had a 10-11% accceptance rate the last few years, so now that the school overall average is that, engineering is single digit and likely 7-8%. So A&S was the play.
For those just joining in - a repost:
USC will tweet/post to USC admission a picture of all the acceptance package in bins when they are ready to load the trucks - if they get out early TODAY (YAY!) that will make a difference to how many get them on second day. I am hoping because day 3 is a Sunday, they will try to get them out earlier say before 1:00pm. If not till 5:00pm, that will decrease second day deliveries.
You can use this map with 90007 as starting point:

But generally speaking…and just for fun since we are just waiting and waiting…
They will start blanketing Socal on Friday between 10:30am-1:00pm, with time depending on who gets their mail early. Always love that first verified post! Much of Socal receives the first day, but often times San Diego doesn’t get theirs until second day so don’t freak out there. Sometimes pockets of Irvine or Anaheim will be day two, but hope is they get them out earlier enough on Thursday the Socal is well covered on Friday.
Norcal, Arizona, and a lot of the Midwest will be Saturday as will many many areas of the country including a large amount of the Midwest, east coast and FLA. Bay Area and Sacramento region will be day 2, more remote areas of Norcal day 3. Philadelphia and Chicago should be day 2. The surprise is how fast these things move and how they reach a great part of the country all on the second day, but a couple major metros are skipped till day 3 - namely Seattle and Denver. Hopefully they get there faster this year! What is odd (and typical) is one neighborhood in NYC will get them, but someone a few blocks may need till day 3 or 4. So the majority around the country will receive them Saturday, but that said, there are plenty of folks that don’t get them and will find out with the the portal update that evening at 5:00pm. EST.
So glad they have come to their senses and made portal update earlier, and posted the time. Was always a guessing game - that was too stressful!
WHEN YOU RECEIVE YOUR PACKAGE PLEASE POST LOCATION - CITY AND STATE!
(Sorry to yell but it’s a long post)
That is super helpful to all the anxious applicants waiting and wondering.
Ya not a fan of combining the angst of the scholarship recipients with the angst of the admits. Like them to be spread out more, they use to put out scholarship results almost a week before decisions. Scholarship kids have a lot on the line and of course are on edge too, but the other 60,000 are thinking, dang man, I just want to know I am in!
It’s tough on everybody, hang in there - go keep busy and good luck!
@CADREAMIN @WWWard Thank you! My Why USC essay wasn’t good so that’s a big negative. It’s a very different time now compared to when my mom applied years ago!
In case you don’t want to scroll. USC post from one year ago today…

@micc you’re welcome
Do you guys happen to know anything about their real estate development program, like how competitive it is? Because I have good EC’s that reflect leadership but I am worried because the Sol Price School of Public Policy is such a small school within USC
Admission decisions will be mailed on March 21. Decisions will be available online March 23 at 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time in the USC Applicant Portal.
I am feeling like a shout out to our tour guide last summer. In closing, she shared a personal message. It went something like this:
“I know this admissions process is very hard on everyone. I want each and every one of you to know that, no matter what, you deserve to be here.”
I was also very encouraged (as a parent) that she said she applied to an usually large number of schools even by today’s standards and did not get in to any of her safety schools, but she DID get into USC!
I’ve been clinging to her kind words all these months. I think she is a student who must make USC proud.
Oh, and I forgot to add, my mom didn’t enroll in USC.
So SoCal will be getting packages on Friday evening? Or will some trickle out today?
What time do we think the social media photos of the boxes will appear?
