For all of those panicking about delivery windows, I am in the two-day delivery window for USC (I live in NYC), and I didn’t get my package until a WEEK after they sent them out initially (I got into Dornsife in January as a scholarship finalist). So don’t worry until the portal update!
@excitedtobehere I’m not panicking about not getting a package today - or even tomorrow. It’s the fact that it’s not showing up in Informed Delivery which makes me think it’s not going to happen.
@SlimJim005 Mine also did not show up in Informed Delivery. It’s different for each person, but hope that helps. Good luck!
^^^ While you can of course try Informed Delivery via USPS, as it has worked for some, USC does not enable tracking and historically very few of those actually getting the admission packets were able to gain that same-day advanced notice. The vast majority who have had Informed Delivery, including my own family, were not able to see this particular type of package en route. But there is always a chance.
As a Recap for the applicants waiting:
USC has announced that nearly 67K applied this cycle and that the admit rate will be circa 11%. That equates to around 7,370 being admitted overall. Since 1,000 or so were admitted in January during the scholarship phase, another 6,370 or so will be admitted this week. That # includes both fall and spring admits.
The mail-out of admissions packages, sent via USPS Priority Mail, occurred yesterday morning… March 21st. The admission portals will update for all applicants on March 23rd at 5pm Pacific.
Today is thus Day One for deliveries…
You can project your likely delivery window via the following link… https://www.usps.com/priority-mail/map/ Simply use 90007 as the originating zip code. Be forewarned however that USPS is far from 100% reliable, and they do too often miss those delivery windows. The portal updates on the 23rd will be the definitive answer.
Rejection letters arrive via regular mail later… usually received after the portals update - unless you live close enough to USC.
Best of luck to all those waiting for good news…
So do you ever feel like a broken record ?
Since it is March Madness season, any bets on what time we will see the first accepted package posted on this thread?
I know it’s so unbelievably stressful, but forget about the informed delivery. USC does not enable tracking which for packages has to be enabled by the sender. And besides, it would be a very crummy way to learn about something as big as getting into USC. But I get the maddening anticipation, go to school, keep busy. Good luck!
@teambyerline Yes. But most CC posters simply ask a question. They do not first review prior pages on a thread. Often they do not even read the posts on the same page of the thread where they are about to post. I don’t mind though… just trying to calm nerves and answer questions if I can…
Anyone else just get a financial aid email??
Informed delivery says I have a mailpiece for which they currently don’t have an image that is included in today’s mail. Could that be it?
@WWWard, thank you for doing everyone a public service
Wait so does everyone get a package or do they only send acceptance packages?
@pshiao you’re welcome.
@teambyerline you can’t imagine how it’s helping. Otherwise on a single page 3 people would still be asking, “When do decisions come out?” “When is the portal update?”
The conversation has been way less repetitive this year! If we could only make the informed delivery questions stop lol. Thanks @WWWard!
@skcyking72 - Similar note on Informed delivery for me as well. However, I’m in the Day 3 delivery zone for USPS, so I doubt, it could be that prized mail piece from USC. We will know in a bit.
I too find it strange that USC is acting out of character this admissions announcement week. None of the usual social networking posts related to it… no new banner on the usc.edu homepage… no article about it in the Daily Trojan so far. They have clearly made the decision to try and fly under the radar this cycle. This is clearly an over-reaction to the national scandal related to fraudsters trying to gain access to many elite universities… including USC. It’s a shame in my opinion. This year’s admits deserve to be treated the same as those in years past. Oh well…
I do appreciate everything you’ve done. I only wish I found this sight in 2014.
I just checked my USPS informed delivery and it says: “There is a mailpiece for which we do not currently have an image that is included in Today’s mail.” This is the first time I have ever seen this type of message before. Is this likely a package from USC? I’m from FL if that matters at all.
@sirpumpington FL is Day Two… tomorrow. Or in my daughter’s case in 2017… Day Four.
@skcyking72 it could be that…but it could also be just be a magazine or catalog. Those don’t get scanned.
