USC class of 2023 Applicants Thread

omg @alamemom Great to see you back on here!!!

I get that the package’s image would not show up on the informed delivery but don’t I still get the message that there is a package coming w/o the image? Worried because there is nothing on my informed delivery TT

Ok, come on Socal, don’t make me post the Jeopardy theme song again.

One more time, Informed delivery does not work for this bulk mailing. Tracking is not enabled.

@CADREAMIN classic ?

@dkdlqlfh I don’t think so because based on the intel USC doesn’t enable tracking so you probably wouldn’t be notified of a package.

This is way more info than needed, but to mail 6000 packages you do it at a discounted bulk marketing rate that also varies for non-profits. To enable tracking on the packages, the sender would pay a higher rate, USC does not do this.

At least on here, in the last two years and thousands of posts, less than 5 people mentioned it showed up and they all seem to be Thornton applicants, so it was likely sent directly from the school, separate from the bunch. When sent independently, it was handled as regular priority mail (not bulk priority mail) so a couple of these random pieces could show up, where the 6,000+ as part of the bulk mailing will not.

None of the scholarship packages in January showed up per posts on here. Maybe someday they will all show up, but that day is not here yet. So don’t stress informed delivery, 99.99999% of time, it doesn’t apply. Hope that helps.

@CADREAMIN yes, I auditioned on campus for classical trumpet performance.

No packages yet?

Good luck @Ericksonra! I have a music industry major there!

No packages at all, none of my SoCal friends got packages today either. Yikes.

@CADREAMIN - late March I always have a strange compulsion to watch the mailbox! I am a USC mom again, as lamedaughter has returned for her Master’s!

My thoughts now are that these schools are not just about wealth and privilege. They are about the very rich and the very poor. I am finding that if you are white and middle class, you aren’t getting accepted to these schools. If you are white, rich and Elite, you’ll be accepted. On the other hand, if you fulfill a racial quota, you’ll be accepted. If you are a recruited athlete, you’ll be accepted. If you’re white, middle class (especially if you’re male, your parents are married and you’re from a Red State), you ain’t gettin’ in.

@CADREAMIN Asking you this because you’re a higher power on this thread - I am a transfer applicant to USC. It says that transfer applicants will get an admissions decision by May 1st, but the program I applied to accepts students as a cohort each year so technically it’s as if I’m a freshman. Will I get notified tomorrow?

@SlimJim005 I have never disagreed with something more. They have a holistic process and are a need-blind school after all. Your income is not taken into account at all.

@alamemom Wow, we have missed your financial expertise on here, that is not my strong suit. I know what you mean about the mailbox, that stress is haunting! I don’t have one being admitted this year and can’t get anything done today - waiting for the package drop
wish I could go back for my masters, these lucky kids.

I am trying to figure out how to pass time! It’s going to be a long day as we get mail around 5-5:30. Also we live in SoCal and we will be watching everyone else get theirs!??

@oregonkiddo lol to the higher power comment
just been around for awhile and ya pick up on things
I don’t know what you mean in terms of program, like WBB or something? Not sure I can crack this one.

@CADREAMIN Just when I thought we didn’t have to stress/check the informed delivery site tomorrow AM, you post that the few kids who did see something were from Thornton. My D is waiting to hear about about Pop Music Drums lol. So maybe I’ll split the difference. I’ll check once but not put any stock in it

It’s Thornton’s pop music program. They accept a certain amount of kids each year and those kids go through the four years together as a cohort. So technically I’d be as sophomore next year, but I still would have four years of USC if I were to get admitted
if that makes any sense! @CADREAMIN
