USC class of 2023 Applicants Thread

My SoCal friend got in!

Wooohoooo letā€™s go!

If I didnā€™t get a financial aid email do I still have a chance of getting in? SoCal kid and get home from school in two hours to check the mail and anxiously waiting to see my decision from my first choice school since I was 6!

Did your friend get it in regular mail or delivered front door?

@faithshaunaaa Mailbox

So fun following along, I remember the stress from last year. My daughter found out via the portal and her box arrived on Monday. 2 days later she got info about a financial aid update, and she was very confused because there was a big scholarship - big considering she wasnā€™t invited to interview for Trustee/Presidential. We donā€™t get any need-based aid, so the $18,000 USC Associates Scholarship and the $2000 University Scholarship was a very pleasant surprise.

Good luck to all of you!

BTW, The person who posted yesterday on Reddit DID post a picture of the letter btw, with a post it of their name to prove it was theirs.

Should see first hand post soon. It keep in mind kids are at school, people work.
PLEASE POST AREA IN SOCAL PACKAGE RECEIVED when posting. Thanks.

The Reddit user didnā€™t post the top of the letter, where the date would be. It could be from January, or from years prior. Not enough info to definitively know

Iā€™m with @CADREAMIN and @TreeAlum - donā€™t have an applicant this year but Iā€™m so excited for all you!! Also hoping for good news for a couple of close relatives.

Good morning everyone - just wanted to let you know that my D received a white box (the size of a book) this morning at 10:30PST. We live in Orange County California, about 45 minutes from USC. My D is at school right now, and I will wait (as suggested in earlier posts) for her to come home and find it, so she can open it herself. USC is her first choice, sheā€™s worked very hard to be in this position and Iā€™m excited for her.

Will post her results this evening. Good luck, I know youā€™ve all worked hard as well!

Itā€™s the official first post!!! Congrats @InstantKarma123. Welcome to the Trojan family! :v:

Congratulations @InstantKarma123 !

My son is a drummer in pop music and as I said before we did see it on informed delivery. Good luck to your daughter, the kids in the program are some of the most mature, dedicated, wonderful people I have ever met and truly are a family because they work so closely with each other through the year.

@InstantKarma123 Congrats to your D (and to you)! Like the kids in the video posted earlier say, itā€™s such a pretty package (rather than just a regular paper envelope with some documents in it). Wait till she opens it and sees ā€œWelcome to the Trojan Familyā€
Congrats again!

@InstantKarma123 Did it show up on informed delivery?

Thornton represent

Itā€™s such a great school and program.

Congrats Instantkarma that is great, make sure you have your video rolling when she sees it. I still look at the video of my son receiving his as it was one of the best day of his life.

White Box showed up in the mail just now for my D. We are about an hour south of USC. Box didnā€™t show up in informed mail but there was an unscanned mail in the list, I am guessing it was the box.

Congrats @idontkno! :v:

Just as an aside for those receiving any rejection letters. Years ago I applied to 13 colleges and was rejected at every one. I refused to give up on my dream and ultimately asked for a personal interview at a small school in New Jersey called Rider College. My father had recently passed away and my family had little money. The admission officer decided to take a chance on me and allowed me to attend summer school as a ā€œconditional student.ā€ If I passed two classes, she said she would admit me in the Fall and provide me a work-study grant.

Iā€™ll never forget that woman and made the most of the chance she gave me. I would graduate with honors, join the Marine Corps as an Officer and later graduated Law School. I have been a lawyer for 40+ years and have created a wonderful life for myself and my family.

I only say this because I was rejected 13 times and made a commitment to myself that I would use the opportunity to do something great with my life and not let others define my worth. So if you donā€™t get into your dream school, or any school for that matter, use that as motivation to create a life you will love living.

My best to you all and I encourage you to be unstoppable in pursuing your dreams!
