<p>USC Provost, Dr. Elizabeth Garrett, has been named a Fellow of the American Academy of Political and Social Sciences. Only four were honored this year with an AAPSS fellowship.</p>
<p>Dr. Kevin Starr, USC Medal of Arts honoree, received the Robert Kirsh Award for Lifetime Achievement. </p>
<p>Theoretical physicist, Dr. Nicholas Warner, has received a 2013 Simon Foundation Fellowship. He is on the faculty at the Dornsife School of Letters, Arts and Sciences.</p>
<p>Sloan Fellowships of $50,000 were awarded to computational biologist, Dr. Remo Rohs of Dornsife and Dr. Fei Sha of the Viterbi School of Engineering. Only 126 were selected across the nation.</p>
<p>Dr. Jed Fuhrman, holder of the McCulloch-Crosby Chair of Marine Biology at Dornsife, has been elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He is noted for his study of microorganisms in the oceans and their impact on photosynthesis and the health of marine ecosystems.</p>
<p>Also elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences was Dr. C. L. Max Nikias, President of USC. Dr. Nikias is a member of the National Academy of Engineering and a charter Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors among other honors. He holds the Robert Packard President's Chair at the university.</p>
<p>Last year Midori Goto, holder of the Jascha Heifetz Chair in Violin, and Dr. Ernest Wilson, Dean of the Annenberg School, were elected Fellows of the AAAS.</p>
<p>Dr. Robert Rueda, Crocker Professor of Education, has been elected to the National Academy of Education. He is a Fellow of the American Educational Research Association and a Fellow of the American Psychological Association. </p>
<p>Dr. Kristan Venegas, of the Rossier School of Education, received the ACE Fellowship for 2013. Dr. Venegas was one of only 50 selected for this honor. She has been a research associate at the Pullias Center for Higher Education at USC.</p>
<p>The Geological Society of America has elected Dr. Frank Corsetti of the Dornsife School as a 2013 Fellow.</p>
<p>Also from the Dornsife School Dr. Seve Lamy of International Relations has received the Burlington National Faculty Achievement Award.</p>
<p>Dr. Janet Hoskins, Dornsife Professor of Anthropology, has received the Lee Kong Chian International Fellowship. She was a former Getty Scholar.</p>
<p>The Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture honored Dr. John Mutlow of the USC School of Architecture with the Distinguished Professor Award. It recognizes sustained creative achievement in architecture education. Dr. Mutlow is a Fellow of the AIA and a member of the Royal British Institute of Architecture.</p>
<p>Also honored was Dr. Gail Borden with the Faculty Design Award. Dr. Borden is the director of graduate architecture at SC. He has won the Chillman Prize and the John Swift Medal.</p>
<p>Dr. Ted Berger, USC Director of Neural Engineering was honored as one of MIT’s “Top Ten” Breakthrough Technology Award.</p>
<p>Gregg Goldman, CFO of the Marshall School of Business, served as President of the Western Association of Colleges Business Officers for 2012-1013. </p>
<p>Dr. Feng Zhu, Marshall Assistant Professor, received the Western Academy of Management Ascendant Scholar Award.</p>
