USC Fall 08 transfers

So Marshall applicants recieve their decisions first??
Does anyone know what the stats of the average admitted transfer student for Marshall is?

Also, i faxed in my Marshall supplement by the deadline without a coversheet and haven't recieved a confirmation from usc. What's going on!!

anybody else heard back from some of the other college's that they applied to AND feel that the wait to hear from USC is easier to take because of it?

er, if that wasn't clear, then basically: i heard back from UCSD, got accepted, and now i'm not as antsy as i was. the wait till april to hear from USC will be more bearable, i think. yays!

^ I only applied to USC haha.

And thanks m.kenien about the tidbit about Marshall.

feuerwerke, the only college i will be hearing from in the next few days is UCSB. and then it looks like i'll be hearing from Berkeley and that OTHER school (FUCLA) that i'd rather saw off and eat my own arm than go there. i want to go to USC so bad! i hate that it's looking to be a later admissions decisions this year for USC.

does anyone know when Theatre will release their decisions? are they more in the middle after Marshall and Viterbi? i'd think that Theatre and Thornton released decisions around the same time.

^^ on that subject, much to my BFF's chagrin, i want USC acceptance like mad. she's a die-hard Bruin and i'm curious how much of a strain me being a trojan would be on our friendship. :p

and to answer your question, ksbr27, i think thornton (and prolly the theater school too) are done with their individual decisions and are waiting for the head honcho USC admissions people to put the big, fat, final "R" or "A" on our folders. i have no clue how soon/later it is compared to the other schools there.

thanks for answering that, feuerwerke! since i applied to theatre as a second choice major on the BA track and SOT sent me a confirmation stating they got my application, i was wondering if they would notify me separately (i.e. what those crazy bruins do) or if it was going to be in the main admissions pile. my first choice is in CLAS...but at this point i'd be equally happy either way. i just want to know!

haha i have a friend who was like, "please. don't go to the dark side. there's nothing worse in life than a TROJAN." those bruins are INSANE...but we all know who is supreme! ;-)

feuerwerke - yes exactly! I finally heard back from my first UC (santa barbara) this morning and I can breathe easy knowing that I'll at least have one option next fall.

June is still days and days away though... wah.

congratulations on UCSB!
ah. i cant wait till i hear from USC, the only school i applied to.

is it sad that I'll finish school before even knowing if I'll be staying another year?

That will make for a lot of awkward and possibly sad of the year conversations.

hey einna, i am waiting on UCSB-are you transferring from a CC? i have no intention of going to UCSB but i'd really like to at least know so it can take the edge off and i can endure the long haul, especially since SMC is going to be in school until JUNE.

elevenqueen, I know what you mean, I had to do that last year when I left school in Chicago, not knowing if I'd get into Claremont. It was weird but it's a small price to pay when going where you want to go. When all us College Discussion people get into USC (I say WHEN not IF) we are definatly all getting drinks at the 9-0 on campus. See ya then

tjmoss22, i may be taking you up on that offer ;o) seriously, after admissions decision season, hard liquor is going to be needed. a LOT.

j3nnyyx3,

In answer to your question (post #981):

Marshall claims on the website that they give preference to anyone with a 3.6 or over, but Doryx says that the average Marshall accepted person has a 3.7 GPA.

I believe both are correct--meaning it takes about a 3.6+ to get in, but that the average of those accepted is 3.7.

I think I sent this data earlier--so I guess you probably just want to know if anyone else has more data on this--so anyone else want to repsond to j3nnyyx3?.

ksbr27 - Yeah I'm coming from a CCC. I didn't get an email from UCSB, I had to login to the admissions website to check. good luck!

My semester goes into June too, ugh.

Does igetc help at all for USC? and where are the pre-reqs for marshall
and the school with Econ in it?
thanks

tjmoss-
yes! I was going to say when we all are in we should get together, since we spend way too much time on this thread.

Woot! My application is finally complete (I've been slow with the high school transcript). Now it's time for the dreaded wait that will end either in an extreme ecstasy of joy or the complete and utter destruction of self-esteem and loss of faith in all things worthwhile in this life.

fingers crossed :p

i just got off the phone with one of USC's admission counselors. They said that this year the average gpa of admitted Marshall transfers went up to a 3.8... Soo i guess with my 3.75 and 3.78 after this semester, i guess im screwed....

O and contrary to what some have heard, this counselor i talked to said Marshall does not send out their decisions in April. THey said they don't even start looking at their applications until mid April..

Wow the average transfer GPA for Marshall went up to a 3.8? That's intense. Does anyone know what the average transfer GPA for Viterbi Engineering is or was? Typically do you guys think it would be higher or lower than other schools? I have a 3.7, and I thought that with everything else I had a pretty good shot of getting in, but after reading these forums it seems so competitive and now I'm not so sure.
