USC Film School

Did anyone apply and has anyone heard back (specifically for Screenwriting).

Best of luck!

Hello! I recently got in to Writing For Screen and Televiision. I'd be very intersted to talk to you......are you planning on going?

hey, i applied to WFCAT as well. i havent heard back from USC yet, but i heard back from NYU (supplement was very similar) and i got in there to Tisch. hoping to hear back from USC fairly soon, with good news... stats are way, way lower than average, but my essays and portfolio were strong, so maybe...

Unfortunetly/fortunetly I got a full ride, 4 year scholarship for one of my first choice schools early decision. So while I had everything ready to go, I did not end up applying. But I'm still pursuing screenwriting on my own and through the major I be in (Media Studies). Best of luck to you both- it's an amazing opportunity and program!

haha nice dude

Hello ~

I got into Writing for Screen and Television at the end of January, and there is no where else I even considered going.

What about you, ankushjindal? Are you planning to go?

~ Joseph

did you hear so early because you got a scholarship?

I do not know whether I received the actual scholarship, but they so graciously let me fly out there to interview for the Presidential one.

So, basically, yes.

~ Joseph

I am considering, but I got into Tisch's Dramatic Writing school too so i have to make a decision. What do you guys think? Pros? Cons?

TISCH: I can double major, whereas at USC I cant.

What do people think about the two?

ankushjindal, i was also accepted to NYU's dramatic writing program. the only reason im not 100% going so far is that i may get into USC and being put in the middle of NYC without a real college campus may be too much. there are alot of pros and cons... so many topics on so many different sites have argued over these two schools, and now Chapman and UCLA are trying to close in... but these two IMO will stay ahead... NYU is more artsy, more creative... USC is more buisness oriented, which can be a good thing or bad thing. btw, when did you hear back? ive been waiting for a while but im not expecting anything until the 1st. and how was your supplement? i thought mine was extremely good for the most part... i destroyed that inside/outside script and my elevator one was really good, i actually shot it already for a film project at school

and the double major thing is great. i will definately do that if i go to Tisch. USC... maybe a minor. i dunno.

i was accepted into usc for writing for screen & television. soo excited & chances are, i'm going there. of course, i'm not 100% yet, but i'm pretty sure.

as for nyu, i liked the double major thing. however, it's really important to me that i get a job after college [not to sound superficial anything. i have a really bad feeling that i'm going to have loans] and sca has a 100% employment rate, 85% in the entertainment industry. nyu, i don't know, but i went to the tisch day they told us flat out, "not all of you will be writers." i feel like if you go to usc, you will have more of a chance postgraduation.

but that's just me. & everyone has different needs.

kinibee, did SCA send you something directly informing you of the acceptance? when did you find out? considering how few spots there are, 1/13 of the entire division may have been filled by ppl posting on this one topic

it came about two weeks ago and it was the usc packet and said i got accepeted to the writing for screen and tele major

i really liked my portfolio, although i wrote my scenes pretty late i thought they were really good

its a touch decision and i as of now am leaning towards usc because of the same reason (100% employment rate) but am scared about the double major thing, because i really want a business major

i LOVE new york and HATE LA but if it comes down to it, im sure i can grow to love LA!

i first found out when i got my usc packet & it was in my major. i think about a week or two later, sca sent me something as well.
